That is some green country Craigyboy! Good to hear from you, that is some beautiful country you hunt in it reminds me of where I grew up in the Willimette Valley in Oregon. When I get my camera back I will post some pictures It froze on the Oregon trip. I will be on Catilina Island for the next mont...

I must have shot 200 rounds through my Handy Rifle before it started to group. I use 45gr of IMR 4831 behind a 70gr Hornday. I also piller posted the for end. I now wonder if I was cleaning the barrel on it enough. Run the brass brush down it severel times it couldn't hurt.

Good Job. It is amazing how long a shot you can make at night. How much candle light power are you using and what color of lenses.

Brass

I get excellent groups with Hornady brass which is short but use winchester brass for dog town shooting because it is cheaper by the thousand. I have the Ruger MKII Standard rifle. At the alfalfa fields I had no problem with misses in close or at long range with my loads using the Winchester brass b...

Night Hunting

To night hunt you don't need as much light as you think. A nice light on your head with a red lenses is a needed device. With your hand held light keep the candle light power down to a 100.000 or less with a red lenses. Keep the light pointed up as they can't see the beam of the light and bring it d...

Coyote Ambushed!

I had been trying to get a hold of a land owner who had a large family of coyotes living on his property for three years. Finely spoke to him and he had no problem with me hunting on his property. This place is only a few miles from my house. After talking to him a drove only a hundred yards from hi...

Brass

I've been using Winchester brass I have a thousand in 204 I did have a few split necks and found that some have flaws in the necks if you look real close I threw them out. I have lost a few to split neck. The Hornady brass gives me the tightest groups for some reason I was worried at first because t...

My Turn

.270 ,7mm 30-06 338 mag I've seen them all shoot tight groups and drop good animals. I do like a short action rifle with a short barrel nothing like a miss and a hit to get ones blood pumping when going after the game a quick handling rifle that fits well is nice. Buy what feels good and make it wor...

short barrels

I like my rifles Handy and short fat barrels are the way to go. I was questioned about my 243's short barrel and told it was all wrong at a shooting contest when it was over I won first place. Who cares! what works is what works.

6x47

Sounds good. Go for it! Or you could just shoot a .243 I have one with a 18 inch heavy barrel that I have used for years with a 6x18 scope if you would like to buy it. Its all dialed in glass bedded nice trigger shoots tight groups. I know the 6x47 would work good but so will the .243 it is also che...

accutrigger

I don't know what mine brakes at but it felt good right out of the box and every one who has shot it likes the trigger. I like it better than my Timney triggers on my Rugers.

Good job!

Nice shooting! The cooper sure is a slick rifle. You will find out that the 32gr Vmax bullets will shoot as far as you can see with out scope adjustment they are flat shooting. When I was in the alfalfa fields I found holding over or under to be a mistake with the 32s just put the cross hairs on the...
