Re: My sons 2007 CO 'lope buck

507 yards thats great was that shot taken with the 300 win mag also what weight bullet did you use? 260 yrds is a good distance also good going. The only thing better than taken the long shot is making the long shot. Yahoo! I am a whimp the largest rifle I use is the 7mm rem mag. Although once I did...

Re: stock painting

Don't be scared. Wipe the rifle with denatured alcohol and use plastic wrap to cover the lenses of the scope I have painted even the bolts no problem, if it is it cleans off easy enough with gun scrub. What I like about it is if you scratch it or want to change just add more paint in the style you l...

Re: Deer hunting in Southern California

I was lucky all around I only had to go down hill but near the bottom I had to ask for help. A hunter offered to help at the top but I didn't want to cut his hunt short He told me that the year before it took him several hours to get off the hill. I am still hurting a little but the rifle did prefor...

Re: Night time Yotes

sounds like a great place to shoot from. A big light will find them way out there. Do you have a hand held light to start with?

Re: Deer hunting in Southern California

I know the wound looks bad but as the deer ran by I seemed to gravitate toward the wound as a target as I put a round cross wise through wound making it worse. The deer almost killed me I had to drag it for three hours to get it to the road. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q264/rsalbright/deerand...

Re: Shooting property in USA

Because some people just plain break the law. It can be along way between towns in the west. There is a lot of public land leased for cattle grazing but still open for legal hunting or travel. In cattle country not to much is thought about taking a pot shot at a coyote but I don't know any where tha...

Re: Night time Yotes

I no longer use the optronics but started out with one they work but are a little clumsey and are more light than is needed. Get your self a rest to shoot off. A tripod if posible or sandbag. If you can get on uneven ground. If you get in a swell then you can look up hill this works good or on a hil...

Re: Upland bird hunting yesterday

Bullet placement is still important I use both the 32gr Vmax and the 40gr they both work great but I try hard to get head or heart shots. I had lost few with my 243 when I hit them in the gut with 70gr bullets and the 223 with 55gr bullet. I can say that I haven't lost one with the 204 but I have go...

Timney trigger for the Old M77 Ruger Never install again!

I received my Timney trigger for the older model M77 with the tang safety and installed it. the trigger its self was no problem the safety with the wire was a little more hassel but the cutting away of the stock and the reglassing of the stock was a two and a half day project of pulling the barrel o...
