Re: Upgrade to digital scale system

I see there are both "pros and cons" for both sides. I'd hate to spend that kind of money only to find out it does not meet my expectations. I will need to do further research.
Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate it.

Upgrade to digital scale system

I am looking to do an upgrade from my balance beam system to a digital and auto dispencing system. Our local retailers carry two major models. The Lyman 1200 DPS 3 and the RCBS Chargemaster powder dispenser and scale (1500). Anybody have any pros or cons between the two. Will they speed up loading t...

Re: Should I expect better than this???

Wipeout does NOT remove carbon. My last four cleanings were done with wipeout only. (left it in overnight). I just finished some test loads of 35 gr bergers using benchmark. I was not happy with the results out of my VLP and BTVSS. Over 1/2". Afterwards I did my usual cleaning of putting in the...

Re: Upgrading my dies

Singleshot:

I'm pretty sure Sinclair international will ship to Canada. (still checking it out).
I see they have been listed on E-bay as well, so that may be another option.

Upgrading my dies

I am currently using "Hornady" dies and am looking to upgrade to the redding competition series dies. Not sure which set I should pick. The full delux 3 die set or just the seater. Some of the number series are a bit confusing to me. I will have to order them on-line as nobody out here in ...

Re: New to site

Welcome Rick 65 When it comes to the 204, this site is the best there is for information. The fellas out here are courteous and informative and there is always someone that can answer a puzzling question. After shooting my first 204 and learning to re-load, I was so impressed with this caliber, tha...

Re: Picked up a new range finder

I bought a leica 1200 CRF back in September and have been very happy with it. Yesterday I ranged a raven up in a tree top at 362 yds. The reading response with the leica is nice and quick. I then sent a 39 gr blitz king on its way. A puff of feathers and I watched him "helicopter" to the g...

Re: Remington's new AR rifle in a .204 Ruger!

I wonder what twist the 204 comes in and if they are legal to hunt with in Canada (probably not)

First yote with the BTVSS

My first yote (spring pup) with my new savage 12 BTVSS. Shot him from upstairs, outside the wifes craftroom window with a 35 gr berger. Lasered at 165 yds from the window. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m128/gube_2006/IMGP5743.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m128/gube_2006/IMGP5749.jpg

Re: Hornady 45 grainers

My savage 12 VLP does very well with the 32 gr V-max, but the 40 v-max's are approx an 1" or more. I have used the factory 45 hornady sp's and accuracy was just as good as the 32 v-max and the super accurate 39 gr blitz kings. I would think this is probably due to the fact that the 45 gr overal...

Re: Accuracy of 40gr Bergers vs 35gr Bergers

Prdtrgttr Hornady lists the minimum for a 40 gr bullet with H-4895 at 24.5 gr at approx 3400 fps At 25.5 gr I am guessing I would be just a tad under 3600 fps. I do not have a chrono to verify (X-mas wish list) Accuracy with that load with 5 shot groups is basically a little bug hole. (all holes to...

Re: Accuracy of 40gr Bergers vs 35gr Bergers

I would say that the blitz kings are not the best choice for yotes as they are to frangible. Your best bet for fur would be the bergers or the 45 gr hornady sp. For the 40 bergers best accuracy was with 25.5 gr of H-4895 and 24.5 gr of RL10X For the 35 bergers I use 25.5 gr of RL10X. I could not get...

Re: Muzzle brake

Rick: Both of my savages are heavy barrel varmint style. The 12 VLP and the 12 BTVSS (10 lb guns) I use caldwell bags (front and rear), bipods, and sometimes shooting sticks. The VLP has a Leupy 6.5 - 20 x 56 VXL The BTVSS has a Bushnell 4200 elite tactical 6 - 24 x 50 I wouldn't say that I totally...

20 cal varmint grenade

I see Barnes has come out with a 26 gr (seems kind of light) varmint grenade for the 20 cal's. It is a fairly long, flat based bullet which should have a pretty good BC. I hope the 20 cal's perform better than the 22 cals. Heard a lot of bad reports with these bullets with the 223's. http://www.barn...

Muzzle brake

Has any one had any experience using a muzzle brake with the 204. I have been thinking of putting one on one of my savages. I find anything much higher than 10 to 12 power and visual impact is sacrificed through the scope. Any feedback would be appreciated.
