Re: SUN + SQUIRRELS + BADGER = FUN WITH 204'S! (Pics)

Wow, great story and pics. Makes me want to head out into the prairie dog fields again. I'll be heading out today for some vaporizing action  with my son and daughter.

Re: IMR4198 and 40 Nosler Ballistic Tips

I had been wanting to try H4198 in my 204, mainly because it shoots so well in my 222. Finally got time and the weatheer cooperated this past weekend. I got some info from a shooter on Saubier.com about where to start with H4198 in the 204 and his info was right on. I was very happily surprised whe...

Re: IMR4198 and 40 Nosler Ballistic Tips

I have done some testing with H-4198 (similar to IMR-4198). I've only used it with the 26 gr varmint grenades. I would think 4198 burning rate is to quick for the 40 gr stuff and would / could create some high pressure spikes with the heavier bullets. There are much better powders to use for those h...

Re: The Great Rat Rodeo

Nice story and photos captqc. Looks like you guys have quite the "get together" when you head out. I like your "raptor feeding society" flag. I should get a "chapter" started out here in Albertra

Re: Varmit Grenade

Okay. Here is the extra data that Ty sent me. I transferred it to a word document. Didn't quite format it the way I wanted it to, but should be easy enough to read Revised 7/2008 ♦ Indicates most accurate load Bullet Weight: 26 gr Case Trim Length: 1.840" S.D. 0.089 Bullet Style: VG FB Pr...

Frame by frame pics of some prairie poodles

Went out the other day and talked my darling wife in coming out to take some gopher action shots with her fancy Nikon D-300 SLR. Shots were between 100 and 250 yds.

Re: Varmit Grenade

Did some testing with H-4198 today. Started out at 23 gr and worked up to 24.3 gr. I ended up with a sticky bolt in my VLP. The BTVSS had no problems with it. Primers and brass looked okay. Accuracy was pretty much the same all the way up. Two or three touching and one or two flyers which opened it ...

Re: 39 gr. sierra and H4895

I've had good accuracy using H-4895 in both of my Savages with the 39 bk's from 26.5 up to 28 gr. Change in accuracy was very minimal throughout this range. At 28gr I had no issues with pressure or primers and accuracy was still okay. I settled with 27.5 gr as these were my most accurate. I also use...

Re: Anyone shooting a browning abolt?

26.4 gr of RL-10X with the 39 bk's seems quite high. Sierra lists the max at 25.1 gr for RL-10X and the 39 BK's. Both of my Savages lined out with 25 gr of RL-10X for the 39 gr BK's. Anything higher and accuracy started to suffer.

Re: My new .204

Nice groups with 40 gr V-max (kinda rare with most factory tubes). Is that a factory 1 in 12 twist tube?
