Re: Good Powder for Varmint Grenade?
I have done some testing with the VG's and this is what I ended up with 23.3 gr of H-4198 26.3 gr of RL-10X 27.8 gr of benchmark All of these loads will print out at about 1/2". I do have a pound of RL-7 and would like to try it as I think it would work quite well for these light weight pills, ...

Re: Hornady 45 gr SP
What I want to know is , does this make any sense. Is it because the 45's are travelling around 400fps slower than the vmax? At any rate I sure was impressed with the performance on paper. I would post a pic but do not have a photobucket account. :( With heavier bullets, less powder is used, theref...

Re: 700 SPS Varmint vs. 12FV
My vote is for the Savage's as well. I have a VLP and a BTVSS (204's) and they were both under 1/2" at 100 yds right out of the box. My next dilemma is now I want another 204 but in a light weight version that will still be just as accurate as both of my 10 pound savage's. I've been looking at...

Re: Testing 38 gr Wildcat loads
I don't really want to sound too stupid but I'm fairly new to the 204. What is the 38 gr Wildcat and who makes it? :? Dave Richard is a bullet maker in Alberta, Canada that specializes in long distance stuff. I posted some info on with links to his web sight in an earlier thread. You can view it he...

Re: Barrel life expectancy
I have no experience with the 17's, but I know Rick from Oregon and Silverfox do. They are a wealth of information and I'm sure they will reply in the near future.

Re: Barrel life expectancy
With that type of shooting (no chance to over heat the barrel ) and with a good cleaning regiment, it should last you a lifetime with 5000 + shots. I typically clean after range work or out p-doggin when I get back home which will range anywhere from 50 to 200 rounds.

Re: Last day of P-doggin. Warning, GRAPHIC
They are actually called "Richardson's ground squirrels". They are much smaller than the typical "prairie dog" hence why they can be launched quite high with the ole 204. There are some close ups of the same critters in my earlier thread of which my wife took photos with her came...

Last day of P-doggin. Warning, GRAPHIC
Went out Wed for one last day of P-doggin with my son and daughter. Hit three fields that were rich with targets earlier in the year. Pickings were very slim as most have now gone down for the winter :wall: . We did manage to fire off 31 rds. My daughter took a couple of vids and not sure if you can...

Re: Dog Food As Yote Bait
I buy the cheapest dog food I can find (magpies and ravens love em to ). I set it out at about 200 yds away where I can visibly see it from my upstairs window. Then the fun begins.

Re: One more ND PD Outing on 8-15-08--Gory Photos
Thnx silverfox. Went out yesterday but it appears the majority of our P-dogs have gone underground in prep for winter :wall: . We managed to hit three different fields that produed very well earlier in the year. We found a few, and between the three of us, we went through 31 rounds. My daughter did ...

Re: Back from South Dakota.
After using my first 204 (VLP) in a prairie dog field I was hooked. Went out and got another one (BTVSS) and now my kids are hooked as well. Now I have to go out and pick up another one.

Re: Back from SD pictures.
Captqc Thanks for looking at the pics. I new to this and hope they weren't too over the top in gore. I love it, but the wife says I'm nuts. Yeah, she stayed at home and will again next year. I the mean time I really need to find something here in SW MO to shoot with the .204. I'm thinking about cro...
