What Primers

My new rifle build is finally done and I can pick it up in ten days. It's a 6x47 (6mm-.222) and I have loaded up some rounds with the primers I use for my .204 they are CCI 450 Small Rifle Magnum Primers. My question is are these the best choice for this new round or is there something else I should...

Wow interesting concept. What would you see as advantages of a 6mm-.204 over the 6x47? Obviously the brass is very available and made by different companies then Rem. What would you expect from a ballistics standpoint?

Erich 6mm/204? Haven't heard about this can you elaborate on it? I have talked to several more smiths since this started and they have advised me not to shy away from the 6x47 for brass reasons anyway. They say I will wear out the barrel before brass becomes an issue. That says a lot because this ca...

jb747, I am having a 6x47 built right now. It will have a Stiller Precision Short action, 22" #4 Krieger S/S barrel, Timney Trigger, Boyd's Laminate Thumbhole in Desert Camo Stock and topped with a Nightforce 3.5-15x50. I was curious about your post about feeding problems, could you explain fur...

That's great info on the 6x47. I am leaning toward the 6x45 (ballistically almost identical to the 47) in order to use .223 brass instead of 222 Rem Mag which has be discontinued. It sounds as though you thought of the samething, is that why you modded it to use .223?

Ryan, yeah the .243 is nice but a lot more to reload and a lot more recoil then the 6x45 or 6x47 (although none of them kick a lot). Looks like I am going to go with the 6x45 since it uses .223 brass and that will always be around.

6x47 for Coyote?

I was having one built for predators. That gunsmith said that in his opinion it was the best all around predator caliber period. He says it is very low recoil, easy and cheap to load for, shoots relatively large bullets at decent speeds, is fur friendly, can be used for small to medium deer at range...

I am in Southern California, not much good to say about CA except we do have some pretty good predator hunting. Unfortunately we have a lot of left wing liberals to go with it. Now if only we could combine the two :D

We have had a pretty good season we have had two five dog days and this four dog day (would have been five but we lost one). Acloco, one dog was on the Berger rounds you hooked me up with and it was at 276 yards on a laser. Small entrance hole right over the heat and no exit. More blood than usual b...

The Rancher said, "Can you help get rid of Coyotes"

Switch and I took a trip recently to a ranch up north from which I had received a call for help in getting rid of coyotes. Well being the givers we are, we agreed to help them out. We got in the area of the ranch about 7:00 am (I know, late start). I called the caretaker and he guided us on to the p...
