Re: Bad days at the range?
The thing shoots factory 32s like a champ. I could be terrible at judging wind. We really have no wind in the city except maybe a 2-3mph "breeze" based on what my FireFox says I have outside. I go out there and I see leaves on palm trees barely attempting to move. I have been in 50mhp wind...

Re: Bad days at the range?
I loaded 10 rounds of the stuff it shot fairly good last time out, and then 3 more batches of 10 in half grain increments. Be very careful with this small case. .5grs is a big jump. We would rather hear about a bad range report than a bad range experience. .2grs is much safer & will help...

Re: Bad days at the range?
Copper in a Cooper  ? I agree with acloco it sounds like a copper problem but..... Another possibility. Did you mount a large base to your new homemade rest. You mentioned vertical dispersion of the groups. If your front bag is sticky (new leather usually is) it could be rocking back with the ...

Re: Bad days at the range?
I used Hoppe's BR9 after the last cleaning. (Then I ran some normal 9 through it to clean out the BR9. Didn't know if I could leave that stuff in there.) I think I cleaned out all the copper if there was any, the patch never has been green. Maybe my gun is like new again....where it wouldn't shoot 4...

Bad days at the range?
So last time I shot some okay groups with my 40gr V-Max loads from sand bags with no rear rest. Today I shot some more loads but off both my new homemade rifle rest, and some sand bags...both with a rear bag. I loaded 10 rounds of the stuff it shot fairly good last time out, and then 3 more batches ...

Nice. Reminds me of a tie rod.majcl5 wrote:Or make a bench that adjust on its own no need for mech rest
Good idea.
Thanks anyways.Outlaws
No luck finding a wheel in the size you need..... Huntsman's "POST BASE" looks like it'll do the trick.

Re: My homemade rifle rest
Ha. No problem. I love that desktop.
Let me know if you find a wheel and I will hit you up some cash. Another forum showed me an eBay auction for a 6" lathe carriage handwheel. Looked like a good idea.

My homemade rifle rest
Well it is almost done. I just need a tripod base of some sort so it is steady on uneven surfaces...and when it is extended all the way up. Then I need to tack on some kind of wheel for raising and lowering. If you cannot tell, it is a scissor jack from my '99 S10 ZR2 (may it rest in peace). I groun...

Re: 32gr Blitzking, need base numbers for loading
Outlaws: The Sierra website has the info you're after, but I'd suggest using a bullet comparator and seat them out a bit, as the factory OAL is rediculously short. I seat mine out so only about .100" is left in the case (box to rifle only, no pocket carry), and I'm still .100" short of re...

32gr Blitzking, need base numbers for loading
I need the recommended OAL, and a min/max powder charge for BLC2 with 32gr Blitzking. Hodgdon doesn't have any data listed online for Sierra bullets in 204, and the Hornady books were all sealed at the store (but I don't recall those listing anything but Hornady bullets anyways). Nothing else had 20...

Re: The 20-250imp.'s First Kill.
I think Hornady has a 45gr V-Max now.I'll try 50's if someone comes out with a v-max or bk in that weight otherwise the 40 v-max rules with a bc of .275. (B.K.'s have a higher B.C.(.287) but come apart over 4200fps
