Re: Savage VLP First time
Welcome to the forum. I also have the 12 VLP in .204. I shoot the 40gr Nosler BT's in front of H-4895 @ 3880fps for coyote and get sub 1/2 MOA groups when I do my part in calm wind. The 40gr bullets have a slower muzzle velocity but with their superior B.C. they hold their energy better down range a...

Re: 204 Ruger Bullet Choice Question
I chose the 40gr Nosler BT a couple years back and have had great results. The reason I chose it was a very good group and sustained energy with it's great B.C. The 32 VMAX starts out fast but looses steam. The Nosler 40gr @ 3880fps muzzle velocity has 500+ft/lbs energy past 350yds where the 32gr VM...

Re: Blooded the Foxpro Fury and Foxxy Fox w/ Whirling Woodpecker
204, My wife got me a Foxpro 532B for our 20th wedding anniversary to get me started in e-callers and I've been able to play the upgrade game since. I've had the FX3 then had it upgraded to FX5. Sold it for $450 and got the Fury. Foxpro is a great company to deal with. The Fury has been more dependa...

Blooded the Foxpro Fury and Foxxy Fox w/ Whirling Woodpecker
The temp. here yesterday mornin' was mid teens, the coldest this winter. The wind was out of the NNW and north which doesn't happen often here. There's a property I have permission to hunt and the way it's laid out I only go when the wind is like it was today. I have seen lots of sign over the past ...

FOXPRO FX5 w/ 80+ sounds SOLD
My loss can be your gain. The only problem I've ever had was a wire came loose from the battery clip that I soldered back on rather than send it back to foxpro. The remote has the red back-light, (you can't tell in the pic'). It has the door bumpers on the buttons and velcro on back so I could mount...

Re: 40 grain Ballistic Tips vs. Yotes
I shoot Nosler 40gr BT's at 3880fps with great killing results. If it hits at much of an angle it makes a big entrance hole (not a splash). In GA the fur isn't worth selling so I don't care. I haven't had one run off yet and I've shot several 35+ pounders, a 40lb female, and a 45lb male. The jacket ...

Re: finally got a yote
Way to go! Those 12VLP's are fine shootin' guns. That's what I use. A little heavy but worth it when you have to reach out there. My longest DRT shot is 280yds on a half grown coyote. (small target).

Re: New can of powder and changing primers: Should I back off?
Well I got my powder load worked up again and it turned out to be the same as before. 40gr Nosler BT's at 3880fps gave me a group just under 3/8": http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a93/GAJoe/P2100012.jpg After 3 shots I knew I had a winner so I fired one from the last batch and it fell right in ...

Re: New can of powder and changing primers: Should I back off?
That's what I was thinkin' I should do. Thanks for the responses. Yea, around here coyotes are the only critters I shoot with the .204. (A box of 100 will last me a while) That's only required 12 rounds in the last 18 months to take 9 coyotes. The rest were used to check zero when I felt the need. N...

New can of powder and changing primers: Should I back off?
I'm down to 20 rounds of ammo so I'm going to load up another batch. My load is 40gr Noslers pushed by H4895 using CCI BR-4 primers. I got Remington 7 1/2 primers to try in this batch and I was out of powder so I'll be getting a new can. Should I back off on my powder load or would it be safe to use...

40gr VMAX's vs Noslers performance?
First I want to say I am happy with the performance of the 40gr Nosler BT's I've been shootin' in my .204 for coyote; no splashes(gaping entrances if they enter at an angle but continue in to get the job done well :thumb:). I'm down to about 20 rounds and am getting ready to do some loadin'. I saw t...

Re: 204 for yotes
When I first looked at getting a .204 I ran the #'s on the different loads and saw that the .204 really shines with the 39 and 40gr bullets over the 32gr for longer ranges. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a93/GAJoe/32Vmax.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a93/GAJoe/204.jpg Be sure to note the en...
