Re: Coyote specific AR build - need opinions
I shoot a .204R with a Shilen barrel (9 twist) and a Lancer carbon fiber handguard. Also use an adjustable gas block and a side charger ambidextrous receiver so I don't have to chase brass all over the prairie. Then, I turned it into a boat anchor by adding a Magpul PRS stock (not a great walk aroun...

I'm tired of EXTREME
It seems that nobody, well one body, is interested in shooting a .204R at distances that no one, well one one, on this forum finds interesting, or practical, or verified or relevant on a varmint caliber forum. Please, can someone combine all these threads in to a single post that no one will continu...

Re: Hornady 40 grain V-MAX
I'm pretty sure the V-Max line of bullets are purpose-built to blow varmints up at "effective" ranges. I'm also pretty sure they were never designed for extreme range as you like to shoot. If I needed to drive 10" spikes in railroad ties and choose to use a 16 ounce framing hammer, I'...

Re: Next Year's 5 Shot Challenge Rifles
I'm really confused. Doesn't 0.2 MOA mean 0.2 MOA? Are you saying the .204 is like the Universe, always expanding? Why in the world would a 0.2 MOA rifle (at 100 yards) become a 0.4 MOA rifle at 400 yards and so on? I understand that some bullets require more distance to stabilize, but, why would th...

Re: Next Year's 5 Shot Challenge Rifles
If a rifle groups less than 2" @ 800 yards (1/4 MOA), what do you suppose happens in the next 200 yards to "blow "the groups up to 5" @ 1,000? Shouldn't a 1/4 MOA gun hold that accuracy and produce 2.5" groups. Plus, that bullet is dropping around 400 inches or 40 MOA. My sc...

Re: Next Year's 5 Shot Challenge Rifles
Less than 1/2 MOA @ 1,000 yards with 40 gr bullets. 5" groups at 1,000 yards. That is some fine shooting. Likely records on many ranges. Close to a world record not too many years ago. Wish I could do that.

Re: Leveling Scope to Rifle
I think the only incoherent conversation is suggesting that "you just need to make sure the vertical crosshair is pointed precisely at the center of your bore" and to achieve that level of precision "just eyeball it". The OP has been given multiple citations on how to achieve the...

Re: Leveling Scope to Rifle
Well, you got some advice. The video referenced looks sound but I'm not sure about the other. I can't figure out how you know the vertical crosshair is vertical without a level. I level the rifle (action) with a small magnetic level. Then I place another level on the scope elevation turret and move ...

Re: Big bullet drop
I'm confused.....as usual. You first told Rick you simply moved the target to 200 yards, aimed and shot. Then you said you "cranked the scope". If you did dial the scope, perhaps it's as simple as 1/4 versus 1/8 MOA on your elevation turret. How many clicks did you give it and are you sure...
