Re: whats beter for a gun

No way would I opt for a Howa over a Savage with the accutrigger. But, if you're still looking you can buy the Howa online for about $340 in a barreled action and buy the Hogue stock for about another $120 or so.......still comes in less than $500. I have a Hogue stock on my 7mm WSM and love it. I k...

Re: Muzzle Brake for 7mm WSM

Rick I know that's the sensible answer. I hate the thought of getting rid of it, maybe I'll take the money for the brake and apply it toward a 25-06 or something along those lines and shoot the magnum only occasionally. I'd like to keep the rifle for the outside chance that I'll get to elk hunt with...

Re: B&C stocks

I have a Bell and Carlson Duramaxx stock on my Model 12 Savage. It is pillar bedded and seems to be much stiffer that the factory "tupperware" and looks a ton better IMHO.

I got mine off ebay for about $110.

Muzzle Brake for 7mm WSM

Guys I am putting some serious thought into putting a muzzle brake on my Model 70 7mm WSM. I have learned to tolerate the recoil but I just think it would be more fun to shoot if the recoil was a bit more tame. Any suggestions as to the product and who should do it? I've searched online and I see pr...

Re: "When the wind is in the East.........

Melvin Good job buddy! I haven't been here in a while. I can't help but notice the corn is already harvested in your pics. I was in Southern Indiana last week and they're picking corn there as well. Blame it on a dry summer I guess. We are so dry here it's not funny. Folks are selling their cattle b...

39 Sierra BK in Savage 12FV

My Savage 12 FV loves the 39 grain Sierra BK. I've shot .25" groups with them.

Vaporizing bullets? I'd love to see that.

Surprised

Guys I am a bit disappointed. I have to think most of you guys are here because you wanted a cartridge (.204 Ruger) that no one else had. Sure a 30-06 will kill anything but who wants what everyone else shoots? If I followed that logic I'd have a 22-250 and not a 204. I had to try several loads with...

3800 is slow now?

Hey I'm no expert but I'd take .236 at 3800 over .50 at 4000.

Just my .02

Geez people actually weigh the brass? I love to fiddle with stuff but I just don't see the logic in weighing the brass. The way I see it 2 cases could weigh differently for any number of reasons. I read an article on 6mmbr.com about a guy shooting a 7mm WSM 1000 yards, off a bipod no-less, and he wa...

I've stayed out of the fray but I must agree it just smells bad. First You said it "looked" like a chow/sheperd mix like it was the first time you'd ever seen it. Then you later said it had been harassing your livestock. Maybe it's me but if I saw a dog harassing my livestock and had a chn...

Rick As always you are spot-on. There was a great conservative who once said "in these days of intercontinental ballistic missiles one cannot afford to wait until the gun barrel is leveled in his direction before he takes action. That fine conservative also cut taxes stating " we need to r...

It's all about the LAW of Unintended consequences, liberals simply never will get; that you can't isolate anything. We don't exist in a vacuum and neither does nature. I heard once of a case where the treehuggers were trying to protect some species of Plover in The People's Rupublic of CA. It seems ...

That's some great shooting buddy! I just learned today of a 300 yard range not far from me. It's $7 a day but I hear it's well worth it. I can't wait to shoot mine off a bench from that range.

I don't know about factory break-in being substantial. To tell the truth I didn't do anything like what people suggest. I went out, shot a box and came home and cleaned it. I was shooting sub MOA from the first day with factory loads in my Savage 12 .204. Now that I'm loading it's much better than t...

That's the ticket!

HUGE DIFFERENCE I followed your routine and got MUCH better results. Let me explain now what NOT to do. Don't sit the beakers in the bottom of the tank, place one at a time in the basket. I filled the beaker with 20 WSM cases and enough 50/50 water/vinegar to cover the cases and added a couple drops...
