39 grain BK

I reported my success the other day so I thought I'd back it up with a target photo. All groups are at 100 yards, groups 1 and 2 are before I adjusted for POI change. Group 3, I adjusted windage and 4 I adjusted elevation to get where I want to be at 100 yards. Load is 26.5 of H4895 with Sierra 39 g...

Loads

Welcome,

Take a look through the PET LOADS thread. I have a 12FV and mine loves the 39 grain BK....I've shot a couple groups in the sub .20 range in the last couple weeks.

PETA

I wonder what the bleeding hearts would do if they knew the government kills about 80,000 coyotes a year.

On a related note

For years now the deer population has been exploding. The mild winters have resulted in a far lower mortality rate and although the bag limits on deer have been increased they are still failing to control the situation. Couple the deer explosion with the growing turkey population (I can't drive ANYW...

Sound Quality

Rugerdog It sounds great now. I finally got around to putting the Radio Shack powerorn speaker on it. Previously I had to crank the volume and that led to both distortion and a hiss. now I can keep the volume lower and get far more sound and better sound quality. Can't wait to try it out. I got my s...

E Caller

I just put together a lightweight e caller. I have an MP3 player, a mini amp and speaker. I am upgrading to a PA type speaker from Radio Shack. Total cost MP3 Player~$45 Mini Amp $12 Cables (2) $3.99 each Mini Power horn 4"x 6" $20.00 all together that's $80 and I picked up a fanny pack at...

Fox v Coyote

No a coyote is not fox-sized here in the US. A coyote here in the US can easily double the weight of a fox, if not treble. A .204 should be dynamite on a fox.

Proper Shot Placement

I know I'll get slammed for this. But I bought a 50 BMG for deer hunting and I am disappointed. I have had much better luck stopping deer with my trusty 204 with neck and head shots while with my 50 BMG I shoot for the feet and I've either missed or had them limp away on 3 legs. I don't know where t...

204 for Deer

A neck-shot deer, with a 204 would NOT drop any faster than a neck-shot deer with a 243. I just don't understand using a 204 for deer. A well-placed shot from any centerfire will kill a deer. The real issure here is what happens if you miss just a little? The potential for wounding a deer and never ...

RCBS Hand Primer

Anyone else have alignment problems with the RCBS Hand Primer? I can get by, but it seems like it's hard to align. I end up kind of "jiggling" the handle and it finally goes but it's much more of a struggle that it is with my WSM.

Is the Lee a better choice for the .204?

Chuck Hawks

I think it's pretty tough to take every scope out there and put them into 5 categories. Actually it's more like 4 since the 5 star contains so few scopes I have never seen him review a scope he didn't like. I often wonder if he takes any cash for his enorsements. For example, he puts a Zeiss Conques...

weighing cases

I read an article on 6mmbr about a guy who shoots 1000 yard groups with a HUNTING rifle from a bipod. This guy shoots 5 shot groups into 2-3" at that range and he stated in the article that he ONLY weighs powder and bullets. He feels weighing cases is a waste of time and effort. I found this ar...

just curious

Trdboy You obviously have no grasp of physics. Let me try to explain it, if a 204 bullet at 650 FPE delivers 100% of its energy into the deer and the 270 only delivers 50% as it passes through. Two things happen: 1 It opens a MUCH larger wound channel and 2 it still delivers 50% MORE energy than the...
