That's interesting. For 30 plus years my go to the woods coyote and ground squirrel gun was the 22-250. Over the years I've had about every .224 on the market. The last five years I changed over to the 243 in both a Ruger #1B and a Rem 700 VLS. Last year a couple of friends got into the 204 and I ha...

I have the Varmint model in 204, wood and blue steel. I really like it. It's so accurate it's scary sometimes. My old hunting buddy liked it so well he bought one just like it last month at Sportsmans Warehouse. I mounted a 4.5 to 14 Burris balistic plex scope on his and had some trouble getting the...

What a great looking outfit. That leather is fantastic. Like Whistlepig I carry a small revolver in a pocket holster. Mine is a Taurus Ultra-light in 38 special in an Uncle Mikes nylon pocket holster. I'm a heavy guy and wear suspenders. A belt is just uncomfortable for me so the snubby in the pocke...

The old tang safety Ruger 77 triggers are adjustable. Just follow the directions in your owners manual. If you don't have an owners manual one can be downloaded from Ruger. These are fine triggers and unlike the new non-adjustable triggers in the 77 MKII's usually do not need replaced by an aftermar...

It's an old Japanese Tasco 8 by 32. Got to say this is almost to much scope for a coyote gun. I've got several other variables in the 2.5 to 10 range that would be better for strictly a yote and offhand gun, but I'm probably going to leave this on for ground squirrel season. I missed a bobcat last m...

I'm pretty happy with the CZ Varmint. You can see the bullets hit thru the scope and it shoots as flat as my old 22-250 did. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q172/faucettb/Guns/CZ527-204-2.jpg Here's the groups it's shooting. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q172/faucettb/Guns/CZ52720440grHorn09...

Bullfrog , No word on the number of tags. As Sportfaller can attest to, there are a lot of wolves in the woods. I hunt the Clearwater area for elk and deer, and at night it is surreal to listen to them. I'll sure agree on the sounds of their gathering calls. I've had my elk camp out of Pierce for t...

I'll go with Rick and Huntsman on the straight eyepiece for hunting. I like the variable and if you planning a Dahl sheep hunt I'd suggest 60 power at the top end. 50 or 60 power also lets you see bullet holes in your targets much easier when sighting in. As far as the variable goes when I was sheep...

Gosh I don't know. I just zero'd it and went to shooting. I never even thought about that question and it is a good question.house wrote:While looking at the BSA website I saw where there was 15 minutes of angle on their target models. How many minutes of angle did you have left after setting your zero?

faucettb, the 243 should be a great coyote round. I have been considering the 6mmAI for a coyote rifle. The 25-06 will out perform it but can you ever have enough toys?? :assault: I would not consider going after sage rats without my 204 now. I have not shot a coyote with my 204 yet, I have played ...

I have a BSA contender 3.5-12x40 on my .204 now. I have one major concern with it. I can zero it in at 100 yards to where it will shoot 5 shots within the diameter of a pop can. Not shoot it for a week. Take it out try to shoot and it will be off by at least 4-5 inches in either direction. It has a...

Hay sidewinder that's some dandy country right up behind you in the Blue's. My wifes dad logged up there for 20 years before he retired and I saw lots of yotes hauling logs out of there. I've been shooting a 243 for the last five years after I changed over from a 25 year affair with the 22-250. I li...
