South Africa auodad/ barbary sheep hunt
Hi guys. Sorry about the absence, but I've been quite busy with hunting and what not. Our long awaited Barbary sheep /Aoudad hunt took place last week/end. CF Roux arranged that Gé and myself were able to go hunt sheep on his boss' farm on special invite. We also asked him to arrange two gemsbuck fo...

Re: Jackal with .204
What do you do with them? Can you sell the hides? They stay on the farm. There is a tiny market for skins (Around $18 U.S ), but the V-Maxes blow huge holes in the pelts. It's also an ethics thing to keep them on the farm, because some hunters have given frozen jackal from other farms to farmers, a...

Jackal with .204
Morning guys. The .204 bagged it's first jackal this past weekend. Male of 4 years, and a female of 5 years. The little 32gr V-Max hits like an RPG! I love the little rifle more every day! https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49750262/Jackal/IMG00025-20120923-2018.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49750262/Jackal/IM...

Re: .338 Lapua vs. Jackal
Hey Tonk,
We shot the .338 Lapua out to 1300yds this weekend. I was astonished at how flat shooting it is!
Eland are tough animals! Anything less than a premium monolithic- or bonded lead core would find it hard to break their big shoulderbones.

European boar with .204Ruger
Morning all. I took my mate Gé and his daughter out this past weekend to draw first blood with my .204. Here are his words: Geno arranged that I come cull a wildboar that Vincent needed to get rid of. The pig was very aggressive towards horses and people. The idea was to shoot it with my recurve bow...

Re: .338 Lapua vs. Jackal
Well, we shot it next to a suppressed AR-15 .223, and we couldn't decide which one was louder. The suppressor was made by Nico at www.numenor.co.za , and they do an awesome job!remy3424 wrote:How quiet is that cannon??? Hearing protection needed?

.338 Lapua vs. Jackal
Hey guys, Thought I'd share this with you. I shot this jackal on Friday night with a friend's Truvelo .338 Lapua sniper rifle. Distance was +- 140m, quartering towards. The 250gr Lapua Lock Base FMJ hit it on the shoulder, and exited at the rear. I found the tail 6 metres from the body. One thing's ...

Re: 204 & Son's first hunt
Are those tsetse flies on the head of the springbok in the one picture? I've read a lot of old stories about how much of a pain in the rear they are. WY- The tsetse fly has been eradicated from southern Africa. When I worked as an apprentice PH in Tanzania, we had lots of problems with the flies. T...
