What model bases are you guys useing for your Xr-100's? I know I will be useing leupold bases but I forgot which model I got the last time (700 SA, or model 7 ect)

The gun will be strictly a bench gun

I got a savage model 12 LRPV 22-250 from my grandpa a few weeks ago. its the older model of the LRPV's and does not have the 6 oz. trigger. I looked on savages website and it lists 2 rates of twists for the 22-250 (1in12 and 1in9) Im not sure when they started offering the differant rates of twist, ...

What would make more sense for 100 yard shooting off a bench, a Leupold competition scope in either 40x or 45x...or...a Leupold VX-III long range 8.5x25x50? Is 40x+ too much or unnessicary for 100 yard shooting? My local gun clubs range only goes to 100 yards.
