Re: Case Damage Question picture issue fixed
Looks more like a "lite load" not blowing the case neck out enough, pressure blowing down the side from the neck not sealing, pressure blows the case body in.

Re: Trimming brass
Most chambers are "about" .020" longer than Max Trim length. Best to measure your chamber write that measurement down and refer to it when you start checking brass at reloading time. I have BR brass with 20 to 25 + reloads on them and they still don't need trimming. I use bushing bump...

Re: Scope Mount Questions
If it was me, I would go with a little higher ring set. That looks a little too close and as the barrel heats up, it could rub on the scope bell.

Re: Silencer affecting shot
Think about this. You're adding weight to the end of the barrel and that changes the harmonics. The barrel won't rise and fall at the same rate it does without the extra weight hanging out front.
Best thing to do is tune your loads with the added weight and then without for best accuracy.

Re: Savage questions
For me, I've never had any problems with firing pin springs on my 5+ Savage rigs. For starters, the .204 is a pretty hot round based on the .222 magnum. One thing I've ran into is brass sizing. The shoulder gets pushed back too far when sizing, the round ends up being too short for the chamber. The ...

Re: Temperature sensative 204 ruger powder Help!
You said "I love velocity". Ever consider backing down on the powder charge to give yourself a little "wiggle room"? You load ammo at 70*, step outside to go shooting and it's 100+*. If you back down a little to the lower accuracy node, you may not run into the "sensitivity&...

Re: chrome moly vs stainless steel
I would say stainless steel is easier to care for. Not as much concern about rust. And I've heard that stainless steel can be harder to machine so who really knows for sure? How did we ever survive before the stainless steel barrels came out? :? One thing that I know for sure is, a chrome molly stee...

Re: Not a hunting story, Just a fun one
Solved some of their eating problems. Roses? Tomatos? Forgetaboutit. They love them. Midnight gardners. I planted about 2500 Bearded Iris. (You think I like Iris?? 8) ) The deer won't touch them. Some of the younger deer will pick off a flower one time. I'll find it laying on the ground. The...

Re: Not a hunting story, Just a fun one
The trick is, plant enough for everybody. I've seen them jump an 8 foot fence. Had 3 does making the rounds at 3 AM this morning. If it's green, they'll eat it.

Re: Question about Bushing Sizing Dies
The neck area will get sized with no problem but somewhere down the road the case body may need to be full length resized or stiff bolt closing may be an issue.

Re: Little Help With RCBS Competition Seating Die
It's the sleve that moves up and down that the bullet drops into. It rests on top of the case as it's raised up with the ram. If you're only having problems with one out of five or six bullets, I would be more inclined to think it's a "single" bullet that may be causing the problem. Wouldn...

Re: Little Help With RCBS Competition Seating Die
Start the case on the upstroke then "drop" ther bullet in the slide. Maybe the extra distance (not that much with the lighter bullets) will help? I think you made a good choice with the Comp seaters. I love all of mine. I pick up used ones when I can find them and swap internal parts to ge...

Re: New case cleaner - stainless steel pins
One thing I've found is if you run your brass too long, they'll get peened so you have to watch it close. Had a few issues with pin getting stuck crossways in the necks on some of the smaller cases but that's part of the job. They end up in a warm oven to get dry. Well worth the extra effort to get ...

Re: Little Help With RCBS Competition Seating Die
My guess is it's the nature of the beast. And the smaller bullets don't help either. I've run into the same issue at times. Little finger tip inserted into the loading window to straighten out the alignment of the bullet. Bigger caliber bullets like 30s seem to work better and I think it's due to th...
