Re: Varmit calibers
I've been a fan of the .221 Remington Fireball since I picked up a XP 100 chambered in that round. Flat shooter and hitting steel out to 400+ yards would put a smile on anyones face. :D Wondered about the 20s but was concerned about trying to handle those "liitle bitty bullets"? Turns out ...

Re: Low neck tension = lack of expansion and seal ???
And, it could also relate to how many times the brass had been fired. Work hardened brass won't expand and contract like softer brass. Same when resizing. You may think it's OK with the bushing you're using but you may be getting false readings.

Re: Chicken Or Egg / Seating Depth or Powder?
Depends a lot on how close you chose your starting charge. It may take me up to 10 rounds to get a good "group". They don't have to be one holers, just close enough that by tweaking I can close it up a bit. Never found a load that couldn't be worked a bit and made better. Some high pressur...

Re: Chicken Or Egg / Seating Depth or Powder?
Lots of opinions on this subject. I start all my loads off with the bullet jammed into the lands. What I do is pick my powder charge. Adjust as needed. And when I make change, I make sure I change "only one thing at a time". I'am not one for jumping around from one powder to another and th...

Re: HELP - flattened/cratered primers??
And it could be that the brass wasn't fire formed to "that" chamber, being shorter than the chamber, when it gets fired, it gets slammed back against the bolt face and the primer may also have backed out a bit. Check fired brass, see if it will fit back in the chamber, neck size, add new p...

Re: Tell us about yourself...
Just registered and logged on to the forum. Bench shooter and builder at heart. BIG Savage fan! Got a "KILLER" deal on a 16" .204 Benchmark, low round count ss barrel and a rear grip stock for a SP build. Wasn't looking for anything at the time but I ran onto this deal that I just &qu...
