Re: Anyone here built a 22-204R?
It's been mentioned by folks doing the H2o measuring thing that a little dish soap or alcohol in the water will work to releave surface tension and bubbles.

Re: Nosler brass is GARBAGE!!
Ejector marks, BIG TIME! Something else to take a look at. Headspace, meaning the brass was too short for your chamber, (before it got fire formed) case head not held tight against the bolt face, round is touched off, primer starts to back out than gets reseated as it hits the bolt face and ...

Re: Too much scope for a 10/22?
Rick: Funny thing is I've never fired a long barreled .204 Ruger. Got a deal I "couldn't refuse" on a rear grip Neal Cooper pistol stock and a 16" Benchmark straight pipe SS in .204. Thought it would make a fun shooter but, the recoil was bad enough that I got rid on the barrel. Built...

Re: Too much scope for a 10/22?
Rick: I'am a big fan of cheap scopes. My thoughts? If the rig should get knocked over or fall off the bench, a cheap scope isn't that much of a loss compared to a Nightforce, March, Leupiold or some of the other big name and more expensive scopes. I know for a fact that there are a LOT of good scope...

Re: Too much scope for a 10/22?
Whatever scope you decide on, make sure it's for a 22 RF. Had an older Leupold 4 power that took a dump after being fired on my 10/22. Knocked the cross hairs out "two" times. Leupold fixed it but it was stated (by others) that the problem of the cross hairs coming loose was from the recoi...

Re: Remington primers
I wouldn't start blaming the primers till I checked the brass. Maybe, shoulders being pushed back too far, firing hit primers, case too short because of the "excesive"shoulder bump and case gets pushed forward and you end up with a "soft strike?? Punch out (slowly) the FTF primers, hi...

Re: Here's our Wake-Up Call!
This is the kind of crap that goes on behind closed doors and when our backs are turned!! Could it happen? You bet you butt is can and will if we don't stay on top of it. "I'am from the government and I'am here to help".  darn good reason to keep your powder dry and your eyes an...

Re: Closing the bolt is hard.....why?
Excess lube on the brass going in the die. It WILL blow out the first time it's fired. And make sure the lube doesn't build up inside the die. A "little dab" will do ya. (It's a feel thing.) We've all been there, done that.

Re: Off Topic BUT We need to do Something
The only "sad thing" about rumors getting started is there's always a chance that they're true. Wouldn't put anything past the present administration from what we've seen with their backdoor ways of doing things. REALLY gives you lots of faith in your government?? And the worst part?...

Re: primer life ?
The "oats and rice" sounds like a good deal to keep the moisture out. Kinda like rice in a salt shaker to keep it from lumping. ;) I've had primers that were 20+ years old that were on the top shelf. One of my shooting buddies kicked off and I got rid of all his shooting gear. The primers ...

Re: A2230
I'll have to admit that getting "bug holes" can get "REAL" boring after a while when you use the same load that "always works". Nice to know I always have a load to fall back on when the norm gives you problems. Might be something other than powder that could be causing...

Re: A2230
I'am not one for jumping from one powder to another just because someone got killer groups with a different powder. That leads to having a BUNCH of different powders sitting on the shelf that you've never really found the full potential of because you never really worked it. I starter out with AA223...

Re: Help me win a recruit .................
The BIG advantage of the Savage rifle is the fact that it can be changed pretty easy. Don't like the caliber it is now? Spin on another barrel and you've got a different rifle. The list of calibers that it can be changed to is endless. Mine go from 20 VT to .308 with a bunch in between. I single fee...
