I'm inclined to agree with Michael in WA. I don't think you're pushin' them hard enough.

Re: Primer piercing?
Remember this thread? http://www.rugerhunting.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4694 If it is not the tip of your firing pin stuck in the primer, then it is more likely to be, the primer flowed back into the firing pin hole. I still think you are running these loads to warm, but that's just my opini...

Re: Reloader 10x lot BS
There was a huge discussion here maybe a year and a half ago about the slow lot. If you search you should be able to find it. I experienced the exact same thing with a lot from 2003, that is, it was much slower burning. I have used seven different lots of 10X and that was the only one that was slow....

Re: Can I get away with this?
Which Blitzking, the 32 or 39? If you are using the 39's, unless you are using the slow lot of powder from 2003 I believe, you are .9 grains over max already. They may shoot fine in the Sako, but that ain't no place to start with a new rig. So there's my answer, no you can't try it without ris...

Re: 204 Recoil
I also shoot some competitive benchrest, and shoot free recoil. This causes me some getting used to early in the rat season, as I use a bipod from a bench then. Free recoil is not the preferred method when shooting off bipods. A slight forward press is the more desired way to shoot. This helps, alon...

Re: Case neck splitting
My experience with the WW .204 brass mirrors Skipper's, and I too anneal it right out of the bag. I've been switching over to Hornady brass for the .204, and don't see the splitting as prevelant with them. The switch wasn't entirely made because of the splitting, I just get very low ES with the Horn...

Re: Neck Turning
With the Hart Power Adapter you have to buy Redding Shell Holders but, that's the only thing you need to change when switching calibers. Skipper, Sinclair also sells a Universal Caseholder that is very much like your Hart. It uses the same Lee shellholders as their hand priming tool. The part numbe...

Re: 204 barrel life?
All my notes are out in the shop, but I'll try to recall them as best I can. My Savage 12 VLP has around 2400 rounds thru it, and I believe the last time I checked, I had lost .020+ of throat or thereabouts. The rifle still shoots alright, but at the 1600 round mark, it started to copper foul quickl...

Re: Opinions Wanted - Ballistic Software
QuickLoad is my current favorite by far. Not cheap at $150, but is truly remarkable. Since I know you are an experienced loader I recommend it. It is not for a novice loader, and is not much use unless you also own and use a chrono. When done so, and all parameters are tweaked in, the program is fas...

Savage website correct?
Savage has a 1:7 twist listed as the twist rate for their Model 12 Long Range Precision Varmint rifle chambered in .204. Is this a misprint? If not, why on earth is this fast a twist needed. I'd think bullets would simply disintegrate. The Berger 50 grain is the heaviest (longest) bullet I'm aware o...
