Neck Bushing Size

I just started neck sizing and was wondering what neck tension in thousandths you fellas are using. Redding tech told me bushing s/b .002 smaller than loaded rounds o.d. When the die came they are calling for .001. Does the neck tension have alot to do with accuracy...as long as it is consistent, or...

Re: WTB- 204 Brass- WW -new

Yep that be me I bought 4 bags and 2 from their Des Moines IA store. I would have purchased them all from Great Falls had I known they had them.

Re: Powder measure help

I have the same RCBS measure. I set the measure light a few grains and throw into a small jar, then pour into my scale pan and trickle to the desired weight with the redding trickle charger; thus weighing every charge. Sounds time consuming but not if you are weighing every charge anyway like I have...

Re: Lateral stringing of groups

Not that I am an expert bench rest shooter or anything but that one load is the only one that is stringing laterally. I can use more practice for sure but have shot for over 45yrs.. I just think it isn't coincidence. Still thanks alot, this site pushed me to own the .204 and sure glad you guys did! ...

Re: Target turret setting?

Geoff, I would go to the Hornady website and find the page for calculating ballistics and plug in the numbers for your load. When done you can print out a come up "cheatsheet" and tape it to your rifle. Another good resource is The National Shooting Sports Foundation and their site. They h...

Re: Lateral stringing of groups

I found that the bullets seated to 2.312OAL strung out laterally at the range today. I had the same load seated to 2.325OAL and that brought them together to a half inch! These were 24.5 grains of Reloader10. The 25 grain loads performed well at 2.312OAL sub 4's! ....go figure. Looks like I will sta...

Re: Lateral stringing of groups

Thanks Bill, it seems to shoot any charge between that range equally as well. I loaded 25 grains tonight and at 2.310 OAL. The previous loads were all at 2.300 OAL. The max for the magazine would be around 2.330. I do have a single shot follower from James Calhoon but would hope to find a load that ...

Re: Lateral stringing of groups

Sure does Bill. I was able to put 3 shots in less than .2 once but other groups were .3 to .4 (these shot with a different front and rear rest). I was trying to settle on a powder charge and the groups I shot didn't tell me much because of the horizontal spread. I should have started with the auddet...

Re: Lateral stringing of groups

Yes the barrel has been broken in and maintained by cleaning after practice. I have shot 3 shot groups that were impressive....less than a quarter inch but average around the threes. It is probably me or the set up. I am using a Wichita front rest and a Protekor 3 front, 13B rear both in cordura. Th...

Re: Lateral stringing of groups

The trigger is a single set and although I don't have a scale it had to be less than a pound and crisp. Per my first post I had to readjust it would not set. I have only shot at 100yds. Dan, that is the same group size I have. Still looking for advice... will check for consistent hand position next ...

Lateral stringing of groups

I seem to be getting some left/right stringing of groups, not extreme but enough to make me wonder what the most common reason why this occurs. The wind was calm. My two theories are: #1-pulling the shot #2 uneven setup between the rear bag and front rest causing uneven recoil reaction. I am shootin...

Re: Holester for a 1911

Clint, Rick has good advice. Another custom leather crafter is Eric Little, owner of Rafter "L". His shop is in Buffalo, WY. He has a web site I think. I purchased a paddle style for my MP 40 Compact...real quality. Check his work out. I know you won't be disappointed.

Re: Help finding winchester 204 brass

Bad news for those of us waiting for the Winchester brass. I just received a call from Winchester/Olin and they are not scheduling to run 204 brass till after July that is all the further their crystal ball sees so in reality they are not even scheduled yet. The reason given is they are tens of mill...
