Re: 17 Fireball Reloading?
I just purchased a .17 FB in a Remington model 700. It is a fun little cartridge to shoot. I just ordered some brass from Midway. They said it is due to them on the 9th of April.

Re: Looking at getting a new varminter. Any suggestions?
I second the idea of the CZ 527 Varmit. I have had mine for about a year now. It isn't to heavy and is quite accurate. I also like the beaustiful wood stock on mine.

Re: WW 760 in .22-250
Years ago, I loaded my ruger 22-250 with W760. The loads were from an article in Handloader Magazine. The Article was by Bob Hagel. 39 grains worked well for me. 41 grains was accurate also, but the primer pockets were expanded and wouldn't retain a new primer. The load mentioned above might to grea...

Re: What dies do I need?
The carbide dies are very useful for cylindercal and straight pistol cartridges. You do not need to lube them. Bottleneck rifle cartridges require dies that need lubrication.

Re: More Newbie Questions
What powder are you using? The cylinder type powder is much more difficult to run thru than a ball powder. Try a ball powder and you will get more uniform powder weights and there will be less cut powder, which makes the powder dispenser work easier.

Re: 204 Barrel Length?
Try http://www.bullbery.com for the velocity versus barrel length. They started with 24 inches and went to 12 inches. They claim that 23 inch was the best in their tests.

Excellent hunting trip. You are right, there are a few coyotes in Utah, but many. I still keep trying.
Re: 17Hummer
I don't have a CZ in 17HMR but I do have a CZ 22 lr which is very accurate. I have two Marlin .17HMRs that are very accurate. Easilly .75 inch groups a 100 yards. There must be something wrong with your new CZ. Best of luck in getting it to shot or send it back to the manufacture.

I have had my .257 Roberts for over ten years now. It is a Ruger Model 77 bolt action. The big advantage over the 6mm and .243 is that you can load heavier bullets, up to 120 grain. It is an excellent old timer. It kills deer quickly. I have a 243 but I wouldn't use it for a mule deer unless I used ...

The best safety items when chaning a barrel on a Savage rifle is the go and no-go gauges. If the bolt closes on a go gauge and doesn't close on a no-go gauge then you have the head spacing correct. The Savage system with the barrel nut is a gret idea. It allows a lot of configuring. I have 4 savage ...

I have several hornets. My best is Ruger 77/22 heavy barrel. The hornet brass is thin and sometimes hard to work with. The most accurate load I have found for it is 35 gr Hornady bulllets and Lil'gun powder. The old usual hornet powders and heavier bullet have not produce small groups. I also have a...
