Thanks guys, and thanks for the tips for future hunts.

Thanks Dan,

Yeah, I hear summer is the time for the young uns? I'll be ready with my whistle. I see from some of your others posts that you've bagged a few red devils! Kinda wish I had this one mounted now. Reckon he'd look great curled up at my feet in the study!

Re: My first fox + a goat with the 204R (with pics of the fo

Thanks Bob, I'm just west of Sydney in NSW Australia. I do my shooting in the blue mountains. I don't know if the fox are becoming more common or more brazen but I see them every time I go out there, whether I'm hunting or not. In July I stayed in a mountain cabin with the wife and was surprised to ...

My first fox + a goat with the 204R (with pics of the fox)

Hey Ruger fans; I've been in pursuit of my first red fox for some time. While I've seen many in the past year, it's always been when a shot was not possible or when I was hunting small acreage for rabbits with ultra-low velocity .22LR at night. I’ve always taken these opportunities to observe the be...

Re: Hello and a question on bullet stabilisation

Derek, Hello from a fellow Sydneysider. I've been shooting my Howa 1500 sporter barrel for around a year now and it seems to shoot better and better all the time. You can find some of my early results on a thread called "my walking varminter rig". basically I've had no issues with stabiliz...

Re: My walking varminter rig

Hey, Thanks to all,

I am proud of the rifle even though it isn't a big dollar outfit. The .204 it is great cartridge IMO. similar recoil to a .223 with a bit more exciting performance.

Just got word there are some small pigs getting around the family property. They're gonners!

My walking varminter rig

Have been reading the forum for a while now while and have recently bought a Howa 1500 sporter in Stainless Steel. Just wanted to share some of my experience with any newbs that care to read. The biggest point I want to make is that the 40gr V-max and 45gr SP Hornadys will infact stabilize in a 1:12...
