Re: seating depth

BBS, I think you should have a minimum of about two thirds of the diameter of the bullet in the case or .136. I guess magazine length could have a bearing on your final OAL also. I actually have increased my seating depth and found a bit more accuracy. I have settled on a loaded round length of 1.95...

Re: 204 barrel life?

My Sako 75 Varmint (chrome moly) has about 4000 round through it. Almost all a mild load of 28.2 of h4895 pushing a 32vm. I have got it warm quite a few times, but never blistering hot. I’m showing .027 of erosion. I bore scoped it in November and was surprised to find a bit of alligatoring j...

Re: Neck Turning

The nice thing about the K&M turner is that it has a place to attatch a dial indicator that measures neck wall thickness, neck wall thickness variation ect. To set cutting dept you just install the indicator, adjust the cutter in .001 increments that are clearly marked on the tool and when you g...

Re: Which one do I pick?

SW I use a Harrel Custom 90. It is a beautiful piece of equipment. Like any measure, the accuracy of the tool will be dependent on the powder used. I use H4895 which is not a great metering powder. The Harrell will throw some very consistent charges if everything else is constant. The level of the p...

Re: What is runout?

Skipper is correct and I will add that case wall thickness and neck wall thickness variations are a constant and are a factor in run out. The variation in case neck thickness is never taken away without turning the neck to a consistent dimension. The inconsistency simply moves from the exterior of t...

Re: ?? about what to match with 39gr BK

I agree with Silverfox on the h4895. I have used it for 32, 35, and 39 gr. bullets with great results. I sure is nice to use just one powder.

Re: ? on length of sierra 39 bk .204

Excellent advice from all. I just might add that unless you are using a premium seater you should make sure that the die is seating off the ogive and not the tip of the bullet. My RCBS window die had to be modified to seat on the ogive. I only used that die for a week before I realized it was a piec...

Re: Dogtown load

Thanks for sharing GW. That is exactly what I need. I have some ladder loads loaded up with some IMR 4895 that I was given a few pounds of and want to get rid of. Just waiting for the weather to mellow a bit and I will go shoot them. Already have my winter reloading done. 1100 rounds of 32 VM. Just ...

Re: RCBS Plastic Loading Funnel

Just another note on the dryer sheet deal. I had some fits with my electronic scale at the get go, and among things I learned is that wiping the whole unit down with a new dryer sheet makes it work a lot better. Less drift ect. My MX123 has a metal table that you set the pan on and I wipe it frequen...

Just go to thier website, get the phone number and call them up. You can order over the phone. They are very helpful and a good resource to get all your questions answered about their products. They are all shooters.

Re: Runout gauge

I've got the Sinclair and I like it. A well made tool. I have thier dial indicator. It is just fine also and a lot less expensive than the Mintoya.

Re: New 204 - first range testing

Sagebrush Burns , I’ll second the good results with H4895. I have had great results also with 32, 35, and 39 gr. bullets. It is very nice not to have to use a bunch of different powders. I had O.K. results with H322 but not better than H4895 and certainly not good enough to warrant a change ...
