Re: New Redding dies
Well I stand corrected. I always thought that the total movement of the indicator was the total amount of run out. I guess I have been producing rounds much better than I thought. That is the best news I have had in quite a while. Thanks Skipper!

Re: Here's a scary thought
I have been following the primaries closely. I sort of like John McCain. I agree with Rugerdogdog. I do not think McCain has a real good chance against Obama. I would sure like to know what exactly his stand on gun control is. I don’t think any of the hopefuls are delineating exact positions ...

Testing any trigger modification as so well delineated by Rick is mandatory.

Re: 700 trigger adjustment
Or you can get a Jewell for $165.00, bolt it in yourself in 2 minutes and have a great trigger and never be sorry about the $165.00.

Re: the bufflehead is on the wall
Beautiful. I had a number of waterfowl mounts including a pair of wood ducks that I got on a double. They were all destroyed by mites.

Re: Pushing some buttons...
Boy, that is some really bad stuff. This type of thing is happening all over. California is banning lead ammunition in one third of the state to protect the Condor. Yes, that means rimfire also. It will be illegal to even posses lead ammunition in the effected area. It just happens to encompass the ...

Re: Trigger pull
I really only shoot two rifles anymore if you don’t count my air rifle which has a 6oz. pull. My Sako Varmint like Rick’s has the set trigger. It was set from the factory at 7oz. on my scale. The single stage breaks at about 1.5 lbs. My Finnfire has a Jewell on it and is set for betwee...

Re: runout & Redding dies
Sagebrush Burns, If you are going to use a bushing neck die you may want to measure the neck on a fired case and see just how much sizing you need to do. If you are shooting a factory chamber and the number is over .004 or .005 you might call the Redding tec line and see if they recommend sizing in ...

Re: Second, maybe Third varmint gun
I don’t want to rain on anyones Remington parade, but they are not an absolute if you are hoping for a “good rifleâ€Â. There have been more than a few posts on this site and others about some very poor quality barrels and actions. My brother’s LVSF had the worst barrel that e...

Re: Compressed load
Foxwhistler, I have loaded thousands of rounds with 28.2 gr of h4895. Depending on how the powder is swirled into the case, it generally comes just to the bottom of the case neck. I weigh every charge. I read the compressed load deal on Hodgens website. The load may be a little compressed depending ...

Re: Second, maybe Third varmint gun
To my knowledge there have been no Sako 85's in the Varmint configuration imported to the US. The West coast distributor for Beretta has not seen one yet. I have been on the list for 18 months. What color is the recoil pad on your rifle? If it is red it is a 75, if it is black you may have a 85. The...

Re: Second, maybe Third varmint gun
Someday the Sako 85 Varmints are going to come. That is what I'm waiting for. Need another in 204. One is just not enough for colony shooting. I will compliment my 75 blue with the 85 in stainless.

Re: Can't get the Carbon out of my barrel!
There are some excellent products that are designed to remove carbon in the automotive world. Mercury Power Tune works great for me. It does not say "gun" on it so it is very cost effective. Fowling is deposited in layers in a rifle barrel. All the carbon is not on top of all the copper. I...
