Re: ladder testing in load development
I recently researched this subject and the most information I found was on some of the forums. The High Road (THR) was one with a lot of info, just Google it.

Re: Howa 1500 first day, range report.
@btlbrn - Yes we have zombies in California, have you seen our politicians? Pretty sure Nancy Pelosi is one. I've got 2,000 Z-Max bullets in .204 and .223 to reload in case they start a rampage! @RowdyYates - I believe the Remington bases work as long as they are 2-piece. As for the weight, all I ca...

Re: Howa 1500 first day, range report.
Yes i'll shoot some reloads tomorrow. Have to burn the factory in order to get some brass! I bought 100 Remington shells to start reloading quicker. Will do some chrono tomorrow too. Will be reloading with H335 & 8208xbr. Only shot 3 round groups today but none were over 1". Usually 2 toget...

Thank you, I just bought 8 lbs of H335. Loaded up some test ammo tonight with the Z Max 32 grainers. Will see how they do in a few days.

Re: Lets talk overall legth....
Well, I loaded up some test loads and it seems that the rifle likes a little jump. I loaded up 3 sets with the same powder charge.... and 3 different COL's 2.280, 2.300 and 2.320. The best group was with the shortest one @ about an inch. But as much as I hate to admit it I don't think my beloved Va...

Care to share how many grains of powder you're using in the 32 grain Vmax?

Great news! I have 1,000 each of 32 & 40 grainers coming in this week. With the midsouth prices i figured I'd get as many as possible.

I just gave up and bought the RCBS chargemaster scale/dispenser. Life is now better! Look for the online sales and grab it for $289.

Re: New to the forum, old to guns.
Right i was asking about the .223. That's a respectable velocity for the varget load. I was thinking along the same lines as you having a good all-temperature load and accurate. I live at 5,000 feet and its a bit cool when i go out and shoot lately. Thanks for the powder recipe, I'll try it out.
