Re: snow varmints

There's a vid at rodentblaster dotcom if you wanna see the propane explosion. Basically the gas-version of what Bill Murray was trying to accomplish in Caddyshack!

Re: Just getting started...

If your bullets are flat base then you definitely need the VLD chamfer. I use a Lyman which is nice and readily available at retail outlets. +1 on the CRT funnel. When you need the case trimmer for .204, the best/easiest seems to be the Wilson trimmer. Have fun, its a fun caliber.

Cedarville sqeaks trip report

So I'm new to .204's and this was my first squeak hunt to the wilds of NE California for the (not-so) elusive Belding's Ground Squirrel. Brought out the .17 HMR the first day since I forgot my bench and was nailing 'em out to 125 yds with pretty good accuracy. On day two I brought out SQUIRRELZILLA ...

Re: My first .204 ruger

What does cleaning after every shot do to help "break in" the barrel anyway? Just shoot and clean like you usually do.

Re: Finally gettin wet

I'm in the next county to your south Bill, so similar conditions here. Not very many suns showing on the 7-day forecast. Might ruin the squirrel roundup, but then being on the eastside might be just fine. Got cabin fever bad right now!

Re: Finally....a break!

I was all ready to do some final load tests this weekend and BOOM...hit with another round of winter! Guess I'll be inside again watching the snow. Running low on firewood too.

.243 WSSM?
.223 for versatility of ammo/gun platforms/cost.

In case you haven't noticed. Gun "nuts" like to pour time and money into meaningless tasks and projects with little real benefits.

Re: Squirrel Daze

We're supposed to get the big snow here on Wednesday (over a foot). Gives me a reason for more reloading and case prep. We definitely need the moisture to help fatten up skippy when the sun comes out again. This has been the driest winter since I've lived in the Sierras (12 years). Maybe we can make...

Squirrel Daze

Like an Iranian dictator, I've slowly built up the "arsenal" in preparation for my first ground squirrel assault in NorCal. Now we are going to finally get winter and snow this week! I have Squeak Cabin Fever. Heard from the DFG biologist in Alturas last week that the little suckers were a...
