Re: Varmit calibers

I am really wanting a 6mmBR for long range varmint work. Since, I shoot mostly ground squirrels, it will have to wait for a while. Some of the more efficient .243/6mm benchrest calibers seem ideal for varmint hunting. I like the idea of less powder and recoil for PD hunting. Not to mention that the ...

Re: release date on savage17 hornet

Saw on another site where the C-Zs delivery date has now been moved back to late-Jan. 2013. No thanks. What is so freaking hard about hanging a .17 cal. barrel on an existing action, or am I missing something??? :x This thing has been a marketing disaster. I agree 100%. It would be interesting to f...

Re: Sage rats!

Wow, nice sales pitch! Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the Model 25's, just the price. I think a Ruger with the rotary mag would be sweet in 17 hornet, but Ruger doesn't seem to be leading the way much these days. I really like those falling block actions, though. Do you have to full length resize for th...

Re: Sage rats!

One of the local ranchers around here called 'em "Bobbie-squirrels", maybe because of their "bobbed" tails? My best guess. So add another one to the nicknames list. Since 17HMR seems to be getting pricier, I think the Hornet should come in handy. 9-10 grains of powder should take...

Re: Sage rats!

Just talked to my FFL dealer in town. We both are looking forward to squeak shooting with new 17 hornets! Of course the 204 will be used to send squirrels into orbit, when necessary. Hoping for a short winter.

It seems most like a mini-mag to me. No hollow point. Copper coated.

I hear CA is going to ban bullet button ARs next. I will be moved to Reno by then! Then I can order my silencer :-)

Are you certain that you aren't doing something wrong? How did you narrow it down to the brass? R=P and Win 204 brass is scarce in my experience lately.

Thanks for the story. I share your disdain for litterbugs and vandals. Nice rifle. I am hoping to get out and camp in the prairie next year. It seems very peaceful.
