Re: Shooting in the field?

I prefer to shoot off of bi-pods. A little raised ground makes for a perfect vantage point to shoot in all directions....We move around to much to lug benches everywhere.

Sounds like you need a tumbler that uses dry media.

Rich, following the Sierra load data I used 23.0, 23.5 and 24.0 grains......the latter being .4 grains below max according to their data.

204 load tests...

I started this subject yesterday in the rifle forum but figured it would be more of a reloading topic so I'll post further results here....... Since my testing didn't go well with Varget and 39 grain sierra blitzkings in my TC Encore Pro hunter barrel I went to the reloading shop today and picked up...

Re: Remington SPS and TC Pro hunter 204 test

Care to share how many grains of powder you're using in the 32 grain Vmax? Sure....The load is just under max in a couple of my manuals. 28.0 grains of WC844 which a surplus powder that uses H335 load data. Here are the specs: RP brass 32 grain V-max CCI small rifle primer 28.0 grains WC844 COL of ...

Re: Lets talk overall legth....

Well, I loaded up some test loads and it seems that the rifle likes a little jump. I loaded up 3 sets with the same powder charge.... and 3 different COL's 2.280, 2.300 and 2.320. The best group was with the shortest one @ about an inch. But as much as I hate to admit it I don't think my beloved Var...

Re: Lets talk overall legth....

I figured this would lead down the gadget road. I'm going to try to do the best with what I have and we'll see how it turns out.

Re: Lets talk overall legth....

Thanks for the quick reply Rick! The 39 grainers are getting shot out of an TC Encore Pro hunter so fitting a magazine wont be a problem. I'm going to try to load a few today and see what happens....Without knowing the dimensions of my rifles chamber, how much of an increase should I try? I was thin...

Lets talk overall legth....

Since I'm so new to loading the 204 I have a few questions.....specifically about the 39 grain sierra Blitz bullets. Both the manuals I have list Case Overall Length of 2.250". Now I understand that these measurements are used to ensure that the particular load works in any rifle as far as leng...

Remington SPS and TC Pro hunter 204 test

I started a thread a few days ago about the 2 new 204 Rugers that I had gotten and I received some requests to pass on my results. Well, yesterday I had a chance to get them sighted in and today I shot some test loads that I had made up. Here are the results of my first load testing. I did not test ...

Re: Case trimming lengths ?

If it's not over the max case length of 1.850 there is no need to trim. Case trimming is the one step of reloading that I dread. If they aren't out of spec just leave them be.

Re: New to the forum, old to guns.

Thanks for the vid! Keep em comin... I am guessin that telephoto lens costs about as much as a rifle? I have 1,000 40 gr "Z" max coming in the mail. Mine shoot well with the max load of H335 from my Stag 24" bbl. haven't tried varget since there is no load data. How many grains of Va...
