Re: best loads for the 204

"BEST" is a matter of reference, your rifle isn't the same as either of mine.
If you start testing, you to will know what the "BEST" for your set-up is.

Re: 223 bullet and powder choices

Olin's original powder for the 5.56 was WC846. Original patent spec allowed up to 1% CaCo. IF several thousands of rounds are fired without cleaning, AND the powder was at max spec; there was a gas tube clogging issue. So to CTA, Olin created a new level allowed for CaCO. IF it came in under they ca...

Re: Adjusting M77 Mk. II VT trigger.

RH, I fooled with my predator again last night, and used a scale! Novel Idea, I know..... Here is what I had written down in my "To do" notes, doesn't make it right, just makes it what I did. So be aware of that. Cock the bolt and screw-in the bottom allen(farthest away from the receiver),...

That number agrees with Shooter. What I found when things "weren't right" was a DFO problem. Something like height offset, or atmosphere

Re: Adjusting M77 Mk. II VT trigger.

Think it's a matter of time, they used to market that as a selling point, but as the VT in one name or another, has been out for so long.... I don't have a pull gauge, I just go by feel for it's intended purpose. I would suspect that I am near the 2# area. I can happily live with a heavier trigger, ...

Re: Which bullet to use

Just whacked a yote a bit past 200 yards yesterday. I'm shooting 34gr. Midsouth Varmint Nightmares(Nosler).
Dead drops and no movement. For $.09 a bullet can't say no!

Re: Adjusting M77 Mk. II VT trigger.

I used those instructions as my start, unfortunately they are incomplete. The Target models and the predators have the same triggers. Remember that the weight of pull screw is one thing, but you have a 2-stage trigger (2 things); therein lies the issue. So think of it more as a shifting of weight be...

Re: 204 range day

According to JBM, that 32gr vmax is only marginally stable going that slow. Remember with a gas gun, velocities are always slower. And I have said for YEARS now that Hornady's velocity claims are a flat lie. CFE may not agree with the gas system. AR patterns are rather fickle, if you want precision ...

Re: Perfect Predator rifle.

There is always the bit about "right bullet, right placement". I have killed everything on the list, most in multiples. With a mountain lion and wolf, bring enough gun; the 204 isn't that. Lions aren't too hard to knock down, but they aren't something you want on top of you. Wolves are rem...

Re: Powder vs Bullet

And as a percentage, that falls well within the nominal allowable burning rate variance. So if you don't call and ask some questions, is a manual by a bullet maker, or the powder distributor going to be more current?

EVERYONE'S "drop 10% and start-over" warnings are for a very real reason.

Re: Powder vs Bullet

One heck of a vague question there ….. "Bullet manufacturers" were notorious for reprinting data past down from powder distributors. If/when a cartridge was re-shot, it wasn't frequent. Testing equipment was typically copper crushers. Most data is now being rolled into piezoelectric/strain...

Re: Lets talk suppressors

Sidewinder, I see you're a neighbor.. If you want to see/handle them. Ranch & Home typically has some, but I recommend you go see Laif Larsen in Pasco. High country in Moses also carries some. Personally I like surefire. But think Yankee hill makes very nice stuff, just very heavy. The "sho...
