Re: IMR ENDURON POWDERS
The Enduron powders aren't from Thales in Australia, they are from GD's Quebec plant. The "Alliant" powders are an interesting problem. ATK wasn't meeting contracts while operating the Radford arsenal, so the G brought in General Dynamics to get them on track. That is where the (I may have...

Re: IMR ENDURON POWDERS
Since General Dynamics owns the only private powder mill in the USA, and the Quebec plant; which they recently totally rebuilt. Not terribly surprising they took the same tech from their ball powder and stuffed it into extruded. Just can't personally pay Hodgy's asking price... Got some really good ...

Think you'll be very happy with CFE, I am. Don't need to push hard for accuracy with it.

Re: Temperature sensative 204 ruger powder Help!
CFE, like all the new powders coming out of General Dynamics are VERY stable. Now that said, Hodgy's "Extreme" powders are NOT universal properties; they are that way under specific conditions, with specific components. Varget as an example, was designed to work with the 147-155gr bullets ...

Re: Varmageddon 32 gr charge question
Bearing surface differences, and powder lot differences. There is a very real reason why we are told to drop 10% and rework loads when switching lots.

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn
Well into my second thousand out of my Ruger predator. Fooled with 748 for a bit, but have (had) a few 8# kegs of CFE, and a load that is scary stupid accurate. Bullet also is amazing for coyotes. Can't say enough about how thrilled I am with them. Was specifically told I was NOT allowed to bring th...

Re: 32gr z-max experiences
I always struggled with Vmax & coyotes. Bullets weren't reliable, some kills, some splashes. I moved on to a MidSouth bullet. But the Z's have a marked improvement on chiselers. The Z's do have the same AMP jacket as the new series of match bullets. It's part plating, part traditional. Which is ...

Do the math yourself.
MV * 720 / Twist = RPM
Your barrel smoothness dependant, Sierra BK bullets have an RPM ceiling of approx. 352,000 rpm

Open your favorite load manual, pick a starting load, and get after it.

Re: Questions about CFE223
I've heard that Santa Claus is real from another site too... Bl-c(2) and H335 are spawns of the same parent powder however. 0.25% CaCO is the only difference. http://www.thegunzone.com/556prop.html Parent powder-->Canister grade(what the reloader can buy) SMP 842---->CFE223 WC846==WC844------>Bl-c(2...

Re: Blown case!
Contact Federal with the lot number for replacement/compensation. Looks to be a case defect, but let them sort it out. Be glad your chamber did not get any gas cutting. I have sent them an email. I will give them a bit to respond. Have you heard anything back from Federal yet ? Seems like enough ti...

Re: Which Ruger?
Will be in .204 Ruger. Partner says target model he thinks doesn't get hot as fast as 24" model (barrel diameter's look the same to me). The target model won't get as hot as fast... On the outside. But will take much longer to cool down, than the predator barrel. It takes longer to heat up ext...

Re: Questions about CFE223
MZ5's got you steered straight. 1) ammonia based cleaners like sweets, don't themselves harm steel barrels anyway. What they can do, is absorb moisture and then cause an accelerated rust regime to start. 2) Sub calibers issue with fouling, can come from the coatings used in Hodgdon's extreme extrude...

Re: Curse those Fins and their superior powder-making abilit
Finn's aren't in charge of Vhit powder yet, the sale to Nammo is still pending approval. Thank Eurenco, a French State owned conglomerate. Speaking of Nammo and the Finnish: Nammo is 50/50 owned by the state of Norway, and Patria group. Patria is 73.2% owned by the State of Finland, 26.8% by Airbus ...
