Re: winchester brass

....ppppsssstttt......pppppssssstttt........
Winchester hasn't made brass since 2007

Nosler also makes no brass, that's Norma.

Re: PRVI brass ?

This one caught my eye, I won't be much help to your question Bill; But as a FYI. I still see lots of folks refering to "Winchester" brass. Unless you are talking about old stock, Winchester sold their Brass Cartridge bidness in 2007. Global Brass bought those facilities and AFAIK is makin...

Re: CFE223 & Hornady factory 40gr 204

I know it's been discussed numerous times here and other places, but wandering if anyone has actually compared the powder from factory Horn 204 loads to CFE223 now that it's available on the market? All mentions I found were speculating this but the powder wasn't available yet to physically compare...

Re: WC-842 Powder ?

Sounds like you have a plan.
Tula primers IME are interchangeble with Win or CCI primers.

Can't recall the source positivly at the moment, but I believe it was a discussion by Litz...
Anyway, discharge and duration were the same as the two mentioned.

Re: z max

Not that this really helps you...
The difference, besides the color obviously; is the jacket.
The Zmax bullets are Vmax, but utilize the new AMP jacket tech.
From a discussion on another forum, the suspicion IIRC is that this is a plating type method, rather than cup-n-core.

Re: WC-842 Powder ?

Few things to remember with the notion of whether or not it is, or isn't the same. Even if it IS the same, it isn't EXACTLY the same. Remember premise #1 Hodgdon HAS NOT/DOES NOT make ANY smokeless powder. They started as a surplus powder reseller, the evidence points to them very much still being i...

Re: Sierra 32gr BK & CFE 223 load data

CFE223 is a General Dynamics Ball powder. The granules are smaller than 748. That powder is the canister version of their SMP-842, developed about a decade ago for the all copper M855+ military round. As of a month ago, Sierra has no intentions of re-shooting, or producing another manual anytime soo...

Re: Electronic scale

I have a rcbs 10-10 but thinking of getting an electronic scale. Would like an acculab or denver instruments but they dont come up for auction often. what do you guys thin of this one. Being .001g it shoud be .02grain respectively. Don't ASSume that the grams calculates to the same sensitivity in G...

Re: Anyone tried the Nosler Armageddon bullet?

Shot a good number of the HP versions in the 243. Quite happy with them.
I only switched to the Z-max(a V-max with different color tip, AND the new AMP jacket) due to pricing.
The Varmageddons are quite a deal.

Re: 270WSM or 308?

With the 140-class bullets, the velocity advantage the WSM has over the standard 270 is purely academic; They are less than 100 FPS different. Everyone wants to talk about Energy #'s at whatever distance, which is fine but doesn't mean much by itself. The available energy(KE) is only useful, IF the ...

Re: hornaday powder

I know, but they are fine powders, and I believe Hornady is using more of them lately. I am pretty certain Winchester has used their ball type powders for years.. Could be wrong and the companies do not usually release what they are using. Trade secrets, you Know ? Bill K :) Just don't want to give...

Re: hornaday powder

Albeit a few years ago,
The factory stuff WAS NOT ball powder, it was extruded, and compressed.
CFE & Stuporformance are both ball powders.

Re: Better powder dispenser

Not trying to wow anyone. Just wanted to make sure you tested the true volume, since you used words like "likely" not being consistent. Handloaders are the ones that do 10ths, Factories do volume dispensing. For your recomendations: If you like the "auto" type dispensers. I have ...

Re: Better powder dispenser

I understand completely, and agree Darkker, However if one charge drops at 24.5 an then the next at 24.9, then I really doubt it's the volume vs weight. More likely the until is not dispensing equal volumes each time. Taking your original post AND this one, I don't know if you are following. Origin...
