Re: Howa 1500, Varmint barrel
Just placed a call to Austin Tx.....the Howa is a 1500 Custom Varmint with either a 20 or a 24 inch heavy target barrel....$389.99....... For anyone looking for CDNN on the net, they are located in Abilene, TX and not in Austin, TX. They have no store front to visit, but if you're looking for them ...

Re: First Loads with the 204!
100 yards and right on 1/2 inch groups...? You have nothing to improve on....unless you are hunting house flies at 100 yards I do believe that you are well within the kill zone of just about any critter that you might encounter....Nice shooting........Paul

Re: Help...204 issues
Me thinks it is one of 2 areas to check.....#1....something is rubbing on the barrel or your front support is not tight.....OR...something is loose in the scope area...mount, rings ect....I wouldn't think it was the barrel per se as even though it is walking it still groups well.....Have a competent...

Re: Howa 1500, Varmint barrel
I've had my Howa 1500 Varmint, with Hogue overmold stock for going on 6 years now. Paid $489.00, out the door. If you don't buy it, let me know, I could always use another Howa in 204. Also I have a Weatherby Vangard, built by Howa in .223. Very good shooters, both of them. I did install Timney tri...

Re: Varmint 30-06??
I was talking with my dad who just purchased a used Savage 30-06 and we started to wonder how a 30-06 bullet would fair against a coyote. The first thought I had was that it would blow straight through and not deliver its energy very efficiently unlike the .204. (obviously still plenty deadly again...

Re: Do Noslers take a back seat to ??
Think maybe it isn't all the bullets....? Many know that slow twist barrels have difficulties stabilizing a heavier bullet....Many guns have a 1:12" twist....a better twist for a 40 gr pill would be 1:9" or even 1:10" Just something to consider....
