Home sweet home. Managed to keep my hands off my gun cabinet when I first got in, but had a fiddle with some new tools that arrived while I was away - shell holder and flash hole deburrer. Started drifting in and out of consciousness in front of the TV late arvo, then sprang to attention when my dar...
Yeah roger bow shot. Sorry mate, didn't see that til you pointed it out. See your point now.
Boomer - I used my ammo sleeve on a recent spotlight mission and it made the night a lot easier, but the 10 round mag would be awesome. 2 or 3 would be even better!!
Good luck with it mate
One of those elastic or velcro ammo holders that wrap around the stock's butt would be a cheap quick fix until you get the bigger mag sorted. Still have to reload mag (possibly in the dark?) but at least you wouldn't have to hold them in your gob

Boomer mentioned nothing about AR15
Reckon he's just looking at a bigger clip for his bolt gun = more rounds to shoot before refilling the magazine.
5 rounds can leave you short if you get onto a pack of pests
:D yeah not much constabulary action out here, but once the boundary has been stepped over, I may have trouble convincing mr law man I won't do it again. I'd rather stick by the rules and keep my license. It's too much fun. And absence makes the trigger finger grow fonder. Well we've been given one ...
Nice one Mike. Haven't tested my Ruger out past 250 yds, but my front gate is about 300. Figure I could give it a go if your having trouble with the gate latch  inKYfromSD - got the stainless/synthetic but just not sure on the regulations re guns on commercial vessels and protected bird species...
I've been out fishing for 11 nights. I work on a prawn boat and we fish from dusk til dawn. The catch rate has been fairly dismal so, although we're up all night, there's been plenty of down time. As I can't have my 204 out here, the forum is the closest thing I've got to being involved in my hobby....
Nice work Boomer  How heavy was the cow? I've got a few small breed cows (Dexters) but never considered the 204 for knocking one off. But as I don't have anything bigger, this could be an option :chin: Well said -re head shots. I bought my 204 because of it's inherent accuracy and flat shooti...
Likewise Mega. Got a few mates with destruction permits and one took me spotlighting a while back. Even the big Roos don't argue with a 39gn BK!
I've heard the same stories about roos and dogs in dams. Certainly wouldn't hesitate if I were in that situation either - Man's best friend.
I recently bought a Prochrono digital. It's very easy to use. Haven't owned any other chronographs to compare with, but it does everything I expected it to. You can get a USB connection and software to hook up to your computer after, or during shooting. If you connect it to your laptop at the range,...
My brother was just telling me about the stick method a couple of days ago. Wish I'd listened to him :duh: I usually need to see these things for it to sink in. I'd better do some research before the next fox makes the mistake of letting me see him. I used to see a lot at the 150-200 range too. Got ...
Mega He was sitting behind a bush about 150 yds away. Looked quite relaxed, just waiting to hear the next distress call. Whistle - $2.50, Ammo - $2.00 (bloody expensive factory loads), Finding him exactly where he was when I pulled the trigger - priceless  I'm in the middle of broadacre croppi...
Another 39gn BK makes it's mark!!
Entry barely visible (went in his right shoulder/neck area). I only found about 1/10 of the green tip. Dug around for ages and no sign of the rest of the bullet.
No pelt damage either.
http://www.adi-powders.com.au lists Benchmark2 in their load data. They have a powder comparison chart which lists this as the equivalent to Hodgdon's Benchmark. It's possibly even the same powder, as ADI make a lot of Hodgdon powders. Unfortunately there is no load data for 45 gn projectiles. They ...
