17" barrel is going to be just fine. Remington's early XB's in 222 mag were I believe 18". Personally, I prefer an AR with a shorter barrel. Maybe give a thorough cleaning backed up with some Barnes CR10 or Sweets 7.62 for copper fouling. After you full length size, try taking the expander...

One of the reasons why I switched to IMR8208... So far I have great velocity and accuracy in different weather conditions. Reloder 10x is accurate in my 204 (Savage 10 max-1) but the carbon fouling was too much. I use 26.8 grains of 8208 with rem 7 1/2's. I seat em' out to 2.35+... Sends my arrows(3...
