Re: Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!
G'day boomer, I am a fellow Ozzie from northern nsw. I have a small farm and bought a 204 to tackle the vermin on the farm, mainly rabbits , hares foxes and so forth.I have taken four pigs with it too from four attempts, I have fallen in love with this calibre since I bought mine 18 months ago and h...

Re: Why boat tail or flat base?
Thanks for the info guys, just trying to get my head around some of the otherwise unexplained variables in the reloading world. If you guys havnt noticed any difference in accuracy at 500 yards then that's good enough for me.

Why boat tail or flat base?
I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on the reasons for or against a boat tail on a particular bullet, what are the ballistic characteristics of a boat tail compared to a flat base bullet. I notice that for instance hornady v max have a boat tail on the heavier bullet but the 32 gr has a fl...

Re: Not much mention H322 for 204
Yeah I read alot about 8208 xbr, it's sounds great but as I found out, even though it is made here in Australia it has not been released here yet. Will have a crack when it does

Not much mention H322 for 204
Hi guys quick newbie question, just floating round the forum there doesn't seem to be much mention of people using H322 in loads, any reason why? I am loading it ( well the Australian equivalent AR2219 anyway) and am only in early stages of load development and getting some good early groups. Just p...

Re: Projectile weight consistency
Thanks rick for your wisdom, im sure it gets painful dealing with newcomers like me, but the info guys like you give is worth it's weight in gold to people like me, so thanks, what you have said really made me think about why we do the things we do sometimes and I came up with two real reasons. Firs...

Re: .204 and hogs?
Nice video mate. Would never have thought an air rifle would take down a pig, I have shot a couple with my marlin 22 magnum...and was surprised it took them down on the spot... But an air rifle is a whole new level, well done

Re: Projectile weight consistency
RAMOS: Sounds like a good system, and one that would work well.I do require tight consistency as most of my farm is open cultivation which makes my average shot reasonably long.. Say 200 yards, and at mostly small vermin like rabbits and hares.

Re: Projectile weight consistency
Thanks for the insight guys, muchly appreciated. As I am new to reloading I did not know what to expect consistency wise.I can see merit in all your comments and agree it is unlikely to cause any adverse effects on accuracy, especially as I am only chasing good hunting accuracy and am not a comp shoot...

Projectile weight consistency
Has anyone noticed any poor weight variance in different projectiles? I just received a box of 32 gr hornady v max and noticed quite a weight variance when I weighed ten of them, I also got a box of Sierra blitz kings and found them to be much more consistent. Has anyone come across this with these ...

Re: .204 and hogs?
Wow ryutzy I wouldn't exactly call a 60 kg pig a piglet lol ,wouldnt really want it to charge me anyway lol.where I live boars of over 120kg are pretty rare, too many doggers, shooters and poison baits for there to be many that live long enough to get that big

Re: .204 and hogs?
G'day,I regularly hunt a property for small game with my 204 but have encountered pigs a few times, each time a well placed shot has dropped them in there tracks using 32 grain ballistic tips.admittedly they were not 100 kg boars but sows around 40-60kg.that said the tally still reads four from four....

Re: cracked case mouths
Hi,I have begun reloading using predominantly Remington brass but have a few hornady factory loads to burn, then struck cracked necks with them on the first load, will no longer buy hornady factory loads
