Sure it does, varminting can last all year long, deer season only lasts a couple of weeks, tops! We can use our rat rifles anytime, so it's only smart to have the favorite be a rat rifle!

At the time, I didn't handload either, and about the best I could get out of factory loads was 1.5 MOA, although some of that was due to 4X scopes and the bad triggers. Plenty good enough to kill a few groundhogs with them, but not much else.

My Savage likes the pre-Lubalox loads pretty well, too, I just hate to buy factory ammo  Of the other factory loads I've tried, the 32 Hornady loads have also done very well.

CZs in Hornet are right around the $450 mark or a little more, right now. NEFs are around the $250 mark, Rugers and Brownings cost somewhat more than the CZs, shopping around will help the price a good deal, if you're canny about it. I hear good things about the CZs and the price is right, too. I've...

That's an ugly question :? If I chose to answer it, it would give me a headache trying to figure it out. I don't need headaches right now, so I won't answer :) (it would probably be a .22/250, though, a fine cartridge, still).

Nothing wrong with a .270 or 7mm Mag, I use a .270 and have for 25+ years now, along with others like the time-honored .30/06, which is probably what I'd recommend. If you do something dumb and forget to pack your ammo, you can buy topnotch .30/06 ammo anywhere. I have NO regrets using my .270, thou...

It wasn't that easy, $700 later, I have a new computer, and I'm ready to fight  This new Vista program is for the birds, it's learning curve is like trying to flap your arms and fly like a bird. Keep your old XP machines running as long as you can!

That's called PIEBALD, for whatever reasons they had in those days :D . They aren't uncommon, but you don't see one every day, either. I think they are more common than true albinos, since it's like albinism, it's a deformed gene or something that causes it. I suspect that they don't live too long, ...

As much as I like the CZs (I have two 527 Americans), I think the Varmint contour is a bit light for sustained shooting on PDs, so I'd recommend one of the Savages for PD shooting. I really, really like the VLP stocks, although I'm shooting rifles in Duramaxx stocks instead, but I've had very good r...

http://www.opticzone.com saved me $70 on the exact same scope, from even the big outfits, they even beat Midsouth and Midway. Nikon Buckmaster 6-18 SF, BDC, heckuva price $289 vs $359 from the others.

A friend of mine was going thru the same thing with another Savage .223, he was using Remington bulk 50s and having awful luck. A good cleaning, and a switch to other bullets perked it right up, under a 1/2" most of the time. I'd try some different ammo, for starters.

Tikka .204s

Since we're frequented by Aussies, I go over to their boards and nose around a bit, too :P . They just got into country some Tikka .204s in HB trim, which will no doubt be nice rifles, for those who like Tikkas (and there are a LOT of Tikka fans). I make no editorial comment, just thought I'd throw ...

Rick, I think you're gonna be a happy feller with that one, they seem to shoot well enough to satisfy anyone but a benchrester, are pretty smooth in the bore (clean easily) and light but not TOO light, for most uses. The day I bought mine, a buddy picked up a walnut Varminter, and his wife liked it ...
