I haven't been around here much lately, sorry about that...
I took my dear old mother on a tour of the desert Southwest, taking in some of Nevada, Utah and Arizona (okay, we hit California, too, a little bitty bit, but I didn't stop or set foot on ground, so I'm untainted yet  ) I'd never been there before, so I didn't know what to expect, but it turne...

Re: 34gn Nosler
If you have some BM2 floating around, give it a try, somewhere around 26.6 is a low-end sweet spot, you can work your way up from there, if you so choose. It's working well enough in my Savage heavy gun, and does credibly well in my CZ.
BM2, of course, is plain old Benchmark for us Yanks.![wink ](./images/smilies/wink.gif)

Re: Nosler Pro Shop Open Again
Good deal! Glad to hear things are settling down and "normalizing" if that's the right word.
Sure glad no one got seriously hurt in the event, buildings are replaceable.

Re: If you had $1000 at cabelas...
I think I'd lean towards a Ruger GP-100 or S&W 686, probably in 4". A good .357 is never a bad choice  and it's practically impossible to wear one of those out. I really don't like the new safety switch on the S&Ws now, so I'd probably go with the Ruger. With the rest of the mo...

Re: Remington 1911
Remington-UMC made 1911s for WW1, then Remington-Rand (a typewriter company) made 1911A1s for WW2. Singer Sewing Machine made 1911A1s, and there were others, Colt, Ithaca, and Union Switch & Signal also made 1911A1s. High Standard made some 1911A1 parts, mostly for Ithaca to use. It's all but im...

Accurate Arms 2200 is back as a canister powder
I know it's not really suitable for .204s, it's probably a little too fast, but it IS suitable and excellent for the Fireball cases, and some light bullet .223 loads (and .222). This was a non-canister powder surplused by Accurate Arms about 10 years ago, and it was plenty popular for the smaller ca...

Re: Garmin GPS
We took a "barking Betty" with us on the last PDog trip, from Indy to South Dakota, via WI and MN, (because of the flooding a couple of years ago). I also took my road atlases. Betty gave us fits, but DID help us find restaurants in strange locales. Most of the time, I relied on my atlases...

Re: Free Recoiling
Free recoil shooting depends a heckuva lot on the rifle being shot. My old Howa .223 favored free recoil, and so do a lot of heavy barrelled rifles, but I've noticed that, for example, my CZ Americans don't like it at all, they like a "hard hold" and good follow-through, like shooting a ri...

I met Doug, from Cameraland, at the NRA Convention a couple of years ago. Heckuva nice guy, insisted on giving me a hat, even though I didn't buy anything from him. I still wear the hat on occasion.

Re: My new Cooper finally showed up...
Hey, now, all I did was steer you away from that orange-roughy looking stock on the rifle down at Whittaker's, you did all the rest  . Seriously, that was one ugly hunk of wood for a Cooper to be sporting  , which is why Whittaker himself, and I, pointed you back to what you really wa...

Re: Load data does not add up
It's the same way with the .22 Hornet, according to Dick Lee's data, anyway. He's got heavier loads listed for the 40gr. jacketed bullets than the 35 gr. V-Max, with 1680 powder as an example. 14.0 Max for a 40, while only going 13.5gr. Max with a 35. Yep, it seems counter-intuitive, but I'm not wil...

Re: Howa 204 OAL ?
It's actually common with all makes and models of .204 factory rifles, which don't seem to mind the "jump" to the rifling as much as some other cartridges. I can't think of any factory magazine rifle that allows you to reach the lands with the bullet seated to magazine length. I won't comp...

Re: ruger M77 MarkII target .204 ruger problems
I'm going to guess (and that's all it is) that you have some boogered rings. They probably need lapped for a better fit (scope to rings) and it may be one of those rather common Rugers where there's an issue with the scope bases coming out of the mold, that either wasn't filled out properly, or not ...

Re: New to .204
With a 10 twist, you should be able to use most anything up to, and including, a 50 Berger. I don't think the 55 Berger will stabilize, but I might be wrong about that. Any of the 39-40 grain bullets should do well out of a 10twist barrel, I'd probably lean towards the 40 VMax, IF your rifle likes i...

Re: Reloading HK USP 45 issues
I'm glad it's working out for you :D I will predict, though, that eventually, you'll see the light and get a T/C die  . Trust me on this, it's worth it. The .45 ACP is bone-simple to load for, once you figure them out you can practically do it in your sleep. You still have to pay attention whe...
