Just to add my 2 cents, my gun agrees with most. Hornadys have been "acceptable" at best and Sierras are quite impressive. For what it's worth, the same is true in my .270 except for the Hornadys being "acceptable". I've tried everything from 17HMR to 30-06 Light Mags in Hornada...

Yeah, the words out. My VSSF II loves em. I couldn't get the 32 or 40 Hornadys to pattern at all. If fact it was so bad, I thought the gun was the problem. I like Sierras so much, I'm loading the in my 30-06 and my 300WSM too.

Nice Brad. It took about 100 rounds through mine to get it to settle it.

Hi Brad- My Remmy didn't like either the 32 or 40 Vmaxs. The Federal 39 BK's were the ticket. I'm shooting about .5" groups.

Nosler 32 grain vs. coyotes

Federal just started loading a 32 grain Nosler for the .204. Has anyone used Noslers on dogs? Are the beefier than the Sierras?

Federal uses a 39 grain sierra that seems to work pretty good, but lots of guys like the Bergers. I think Cabelas sells factory Bergers.

My question is, why are you using a .204 for deer? There are so many other cartridges better designed for that. Is it because of a personal challenge? Or is that the only gun you own? I've actually thought about it myself, but there's no way I could do it. Just wondering.

I think I would have rather than blow a distress call to see what he does, I would have let out a couple of BARKS with my .204 in the ground to see what he does.

I agree that I wouldn't shoot a deer with a .204, but in trdtoy's defence, if you are using a bullet that's designed to penetrate, like a Berger, a precicely placed shot in the breadbox will kill. I have a buddy that routinely hunts deer with his 22-250. I liken it to bow hunting. The deer will die ...
