Re: VSSF II Update

I have the exact same gun, and it took 60-80 rounds through the pipe to get it to settle in. It shoots great now. I hope you cleaned the barrel before you shot it. I've seen dirt and metal shavings let inside the most reputable guns, right off the shelf!

Re: Federal ammo with Sierra 39BK

Out of my VSSF II I've been using 24.7 grains of RE10X, CCI-400 primers and been getting groups averaging .315". For a little knock down power, for yotes I use 25.3 gr and the group opens up a little to .432". But the extra velocity is great on bigger critters. I love my BK's!!

Re: What is going on??

Piper-You'll probably find your groups will tighten up after 100-200 rounds through it. I was concerned about my VSSF until I ran 90 or so through the pipe. Now I'm getting .3's with handloaded Sierra 39BK's.

New Barnes Varmint Grenades

Barnes is making Varmint Grenades for the 204 now, in a 26 grain load!! 26 grains! WOW. I've got to try them to see what ultra sonic speed I can get!

Re: PD's vs. my VSSF II

Bergcrane2, How are you liking your VSSF II? I just recently bought one - going to take it out tomorrow to get it sighted in. I love it. It took a while to get the barrel broke in though. My groups were huge at first but after 80-100 rounds through it, it settled in nicely. I'm getting low .3"...

Re: PD's vs. my VSSF II

Bergcrane2, Nice shooting, 350yrds with 15 MPH crosswind! Sounds like more than a mouse fart of wind to me :duh: . I was on another site and some clown made a fool comment about the .204 and "the slightest crosswind" I commented that he must have never shot the .204 and shouldn't make stu...

39 grain SBK's. It depended where I hit them to get maximum acrobatics.

PD's vs. my VSSF II

Just got back from Wyoming and we spent a couple hours popping dogs. They've been shot at before so the only one's that sat for us were from 300-450 yards. Most mine came at 350 yards with a 15 mph crosswind. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l231/bergcrane2/DSCF0115.jpg http://i97.photobucket.com/a...

Re: opinion on Howa

You'll like it. I bought the Howa Hogue in 300WSM. It took a little playing with powder/loads but I got it under 3/4". I lightened the trigger up myself and got it about 1 1/2# with just slight creep. Make sure the action is tight to the stock. Mine was touching at the forearm. I'd move it, and...
