Brand new Kenetrek Mountain Guide boots
Selling a brand new pair of Kenetrek Mountain Guide 400 boots in size 9. I bought them earlier this year as a backup pair of boots to my other Kenetrek 400s, but they're just not going to be used any time soon. I removed the tags from the boots, but they have absolutely never been worn and are in 10...

300 SAUM vs 300 WSM
What are the thoughts between the 300 SAUM and 300 WSM? The rifle will be used primarily for elk hunting, if that matters. I'd like to keep it between these two calibers only, please.

Re: Forbes rifle
Yeah, I knew that Melvin teamed up with Titan to produce the rifles. As I understand it, Titan handles the metal and final fitting while Melvin still provides the stocks. A stainless Forbes 24B is already in the works, along with an expansion of the chamberings. The options will be: 25-06, 270, 280,...

Re: Forbes rifle
Rick: I was nearly certain that rifle was wearing a Lone Wolf stock and meant to ask in my previous post, but got side-tracked. I haven't fondled one, but I understand the Lone Wolf stock is the cream of the lightweight crop. You always bring the coolest toys to the party, my friend! If I lived in ...

Re: Forbes rifle
Thanks for the info, Rick. I'm glad that you said more about PGW, because I couldn't find any mention of light weight hunting rifles on the web site. Does your rifle have a titanium action? I recently snagged a Browning Ti in 270 WSM, so I'm going to play around with it a bit and see how we get alon...

Forbes rifle
Any of you check out the new Forbes rifles yet? What little I have seen thus far has been quite positive and the rifles are trickling into the hands of shooters now. I'm holding out for a stainless version and a wider range of caliber options, which should happen sometime next year. If the specs of ...

Re: New Cooper
Yes and definitely yes. I've used duplex reticles in the past and I would never go back to one in a varmint rifle.ScottB wrote:Does anyone have the varmint hunter reticle in the Leupold? If so, how do you like it? Is it preferable to a regular duplex or fine duplex?

Re: New Cooper
Now I need a scope. Probably a Leupold 6.5x20 40mm LR, unless someone makes a compelling argument for my second choice, the Zeiss Conquest in 6.5x20 50mm. I have both and can't really come up with a compelling argument either way. I prefer Leupold's varmint reticle over the Zeiss, but not by enough...

I'm certainly not an expert, but I believe the VX-2 glass is the same that was on the VX-III scopes that were replaced by the VX-3.

Re: O.T.: CO Movie Shooting
Rick, I think you've missed a very important piece of information about this tragedy. That movie theater was a "gun-free zone" and the policy was strictly enforced. The reason a legally armed citizen wasn't there is because IT WAS AGAINST THE RULES. You don't see that on the news, though, ...

Re: Which Rifle would you pick?
See.....you "need" two rifles in each varmint caliber you own. Explaining the logic to wifey though is another matter altogether.... :chin: I learned not to question the logic of women's shoes/clothing/accessories a long time ago. Sometimes, leading by example helps pave the way for recip...

Re: Which stock for varmint hunting?
I'm running the standard A2 on mine. I had a Magpul PRS for a little while and didn't care that much for it. There was nothing wrong with the quality of the Magpul, but I prefer the more solid feel of the A2 for work on a shooting bench.
