Re: .204 Ruger accuracy
Working with 8208XBR/26.6 grains and the 39 grain SBK, I got a five shot 100 yard group of .143". Finally got a calm morning on the range to help get that group. Velocity was a sedate 3798 fps. SD was 16.0 and ES was 43.0.

Re: Fouling in my barrel
KG12 is very aggressive on copper but of no use at all on carbon. I get good results with Bore Tech carbon remover and a brass brush.

Re: new case reloads for the .204
One problem I ran into with using a full length die (did the partial sizing thing for many years) is the neck runout can run as high as .007". That probably won't affect hunting loads in a factory chamber. For benchrest and varmint loads, that's way too much neck runout. MY Lee collet die cons...

Re: IMR 8208 - 39 BK
I tried 8208XBR with the 39 gr SBK in my Savage 204. Charge was 26.6 grains. My best group was .143" at 100 yards with velocity at 3798 fps. SD was 16.0 and ES was 43.0. I'm seating the SBK .032" OTL.

Re: How long is to long to the lands.
1.5" at 300 yards is not bad at all.shanghi wrote:Thanks Bil K
I will do as you say, even with this factory ammo {federal 39gr sbk} they are shooting a 1-1/2" group@300yds at .195th off the lands, realy looking ford to reloading.
Thanks
shanghi.

Re: Chrony Ballistics Software
Still have to do that when I get the proverbial "round to it". I ended up going with the Prochrono Digital as the user reports on the PACT were NOT good.Ahab wrote:So GACOP, why didn't you send it back? I understand they do a good job of standing behind their product.

Man! 53 degrees in August! You should be in Georgia, temps are high 90s with humidity to match. Georgia's like a flash back to Vietnam.............we even have the red clay.

Re: My awesome new stock blew apart my groups...
I still bed the actions in any stock, regardless of what the stock is made out of. Buddy of my had a Rem 308 in an HS stock, he was rather surprised that his action was still moving in his stock. Rather apparent when we removed the action and he could see the marks on his action and stock. +1, bed ...

Re: what one
I've gotten good results with the 40gr V-Max and the 39gr SBK in a Savage 1 in 12 twist. The SBK is a bit more accurate.

Ah nostalgia. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f290/jo191145/0218082104.jpg Great group! I have yet to ge...

Re: Reloading dies
Mornin Steve, Ive got standard Forster dies with the full length sizer and the competition seating die. I use the F/L die to bump the shoulder when it needs it and Lee collet size case necks in between. It's personal preference really. Some shoooters like bushing dies to control the amount of sizing...
Re: Scope ?
I have a Viper and a couple of Crossfires. I've had no issues with the Viper but did with a Crossfire and Vortex replaced it. Great customer service.

Re: 6.5x47 lapua and range report
Try some 140gr A-Max for long range work, very accurate bullet in my 6.5 Lapua.
