Best group yet!
Just returned from the range today after shooting both the 204 and the 223. Was well pleased with both. The CZ really shined today with a five shot group @ 200yds in which all shots touched each other...measured 7/16ths. The 223 shot just a bit bigger groups of about 3/4" using 40gr V-Max's and...

Re: Nikon hath sinned against me
That's "LEUPOLD" not "LEOPOLD". Sorry to be so picky but people everywhere try to force that name into something it isn't. I guess I get sore over the issue because people do the same thing with my own name. I think Leupold should just change their name to Smith.

Re: Stock Options
I'd love to re-stock my 527 Varmint, but it shoots so well right now that I'm afraid to change anything. Last week at the range it put 5 39gr BK's through one hole at 100yds...don't know if it will do that every time but that's still good enough for an off the shelf gun.

Sierra 40gr Varminters
Midway had Sierra 40gr Varminters in 223cal on sale for $12.99 last month and since I trust Sierra bullets, I bought 500. It was a gamble buying economy bullets. I loaded some up with 2230C and #400 primers: some at 26.5gr and some at 27.5g. Both made 0.4" 5 shot groups consistently @ 100yds. T...

I gots American too- Buck, Gerber, Schrade: perhaps if I spent a few extra dollars on some US steel I might get a new favorite. I've hemmed & hawed about getting a Scallion and/or a Chive...might break down here pretty soon and add one to my collection.

gun/shooting enthusiast that isn't concurrently a knife lover to some extent. Just wondering how many knives are in your safe? If you are like me you probably have at least five or more different sharpening kits and/or stones. My personal favorites come from Japan. My go everywhere folder is a blue ...

Re: new .204 nut
One reason I use small bore rifles is I'm such a skinny, small framed bit of a bean pole. Secondly, less powder and lighter bullets=less$. Finally, my biggest game are ground squirrels. I've considered a 243 loaded with 55gr bullets but just never got too excited about the idea. The thought of a new...

Re: new .204 nut
I'm quite familiar with Daystate and its price tag. Best of the best as far as airguns are concerned. Love my Air Arms-its an older model without a safety and has a conventional bolt. Use it here for ground squirrels. If the wind is cooperative I often make kills out to 50m on adult squirrels with i...

Re: new .204 nut
We're not too far behind you here in California. One recent change we have is that in many places one cannot use lead bullets as condors may eat the carrion of one of our kills. The absurdity of it is, is that the law was not instituted by congress but by our Department of Fish and Game-who gave the...
