Nosler 32gr Varmit tip vs Lead Free
I've reloaded some of the Nosler 32gr Varmit tipped and they flew great but I realized Nosler also makes this in a lead free bullet. The varmit tip has an oal of .640" with a BC of .206, the lead free has an oal of .745" and a BC of .228. Just wondering if anyone has tried these Nosler lea...

Re: Am I wrong...........
I had an issue with several Remington slugs that didn't go off so I sent an email to their customer service, they sent me a return shipping label, I sent the slugs in, didn't hear from them for awhile, contacted them again, they said it was my gun's fault. So I looked up their CEO online, sent him a...

Re: Which dies - Lee, Hornady, or RCBS?
After reviewing my brother-in-law's RCBS die, the bullet seater adjustment was different on mine. His has a threaded rod with a screw driver slot in it and a hex stop nut - cumbersome looking but better than the screw inside another screw that was difficult to tighten while maintaining a specific he...

Question on Hornady's 32 V-Max 4225 fps
In addition to reloading, I bought some of the Hornady 32gr V-Max factory loads with the advertised 4225 fps. In my shorter 20" Tikka T3, I was able to get consistant readings just over 3800 fps. It is said that Hornady is using some secret proprietary powder but at those velocities, they have ...

Re: Using bullet puller on .204
Well I went out and put a piece of hardwood on the garage floor and commenced to beating the crap out of it and the bullets came out without breaking the handle. But on the little 32 grain bullets I don't know if there's enough roonm for a collet to grip on the straight sides - looks a tad short to ...

Using bullet puller on .204
I decided I didn't want to use certain .204 cartirdges I had loaded so I picked up one of those kinetic bullet pullers to remove some 32gr and 39gr bullets - NOT! Obviously there's alot less momentum trying to move these little pills compared to maybe a 180gr from an '06 or something. Has anyone use...

Which rear bag for bench shooting.
For the first time with my .204, I've switched from a Bull bag to a Harris bipod at the range and like it much better. But I'm still using a tapered Protektor rear bag and the rear rifle swivel sits smack dab in the middle of the bag - it is not rock steady this way. I'm thinking of switching to eit...

First kill with .204 today.
Went to the range today with my new Tikka, some Hornady factory loads, and a small ladder test of different loads for 32gr Nosler and 39gr BK. Evidentally it's unwise to put two wide targets up horizontally while shooting thru a chrony. I couldn't find where the bullet went but after checking the fp...

Which dies - Lee, Hornady, or RCBS?
When I got into reloading awhile, I went with the Lee Collet dies for .243. I liked them and picked up .40 S&W and .380 Auto as well. When I bought my Tikka T3 Lite, Cabelas only had the RCBS and Hornady in stock for .204 so I got the RCBS. The bullet seater was terrible to adjust so it's packed...

So if there's a .060" boat tail on the back of the bullet, seating .224" deep gives me about .164" of bullet contact with the case neck and that is sufficient? Thanks.

Proper seating of one caliber length
I'm getting ready to load .204 Ruger for the first time and these little 32gr Nosler varmint tip are really short. From the ogive to the base, they run about .238" on average for the bullet only leaving .411" in front to the tip. But these Nosler boat tails have about a .060" chamfer ...

Re: 204 Ruger case trimmer
I know the situation, so I ordered another one for .243. My brother-in-law is a machinist and I'm going to see if he can turn that length gauge down to about .199"/.200" on a lathe. This will allow it to go down into the cutter below the blades and if it "locks in" and is repeata...

Re: Overall Cartridge Length versus Ogive to Case End Length
Thanks ryutzy - I'm on the right track then. It just seems in the "favorite load" thread only the COAL measurement was listed which is secondary to me as long as it fits in the mag - the ogive distance is what I interpreted as more important. (My .243 Ruger shoots the 70gr Nosler VT the be...

Overall Cartridge Length versus Ogive to Case End Length
I'm somewhat of a newbie to reloading and I try to understand everything possible on something that can go boom in my hands. For all of my .243 loads so far, I measured Overall Cartridge Length on every cartridge and recorded them in my log. I also measured and recorded the distance from the ogive t...

Re: Any Tikka fans out there?
I just bought a Tikka T3 Lite about 2 weeks ago. A new Sightron Big Sky 6-24x42 Dot (man that dot's small) came yesterday and the DNZ Game Reaper is scheduled to arrive Monday. I'm ready to roll my own but I picked up a box of factory Hornady 32 gr V-Max with a blistering 4225 fps listed on the box....
