Re: Proud new owner of my Savage .204 Ruger!
This one started out as a plain Jane Model 12 FV. I don't like the synthetic stock, so I replaced it with a Boyd's Ross Thumbhole Varmint laminate stock. http://www.catsmeowcafe.com/RFC/Model12a.jpg My cat, Sammie Jo, likes her picture taken, too, sometimes. :o It's sporting a Weaver T-36 scope, and...

Re: First kill with .204 today.
Horror tales I don't want to hear!! :D I just got my first Chrony, a Shooting Chrony F1, and I really hope that I don't shoot it. I know I've had to go cold range a couple of times to get it adjusted just right. Heck, I even forgot my diffusers the other day, but it still worked okay. But, yes...

No, I realize you weren't being sarcastic. Right now, I'm going to stick with what I have, learn a lot more about reloading, and be happy.bow shot wrote:Gary, being content with what you have is a great thing, enjoy it!! (No, I'm not being sarcastic, LOL!!)

Re: Finally decided on a .22..........
I'll tell you now, if you want to get in on the Kimber 82G, you need to get one NOW before they are gone. As of December they had a little over 1,000 of the rifles left (out of the 20,000 original) and CMP has been selling them like hot cakes. I want to get another one, but I've just spent a ton of ...

Re: Do you think a 22 rimfire is a handicap with a good shoo
I only have one CF rifle, my .204. Everything else is rimfire. I regularly shoot silhouette competition at 200 yards with a variety of .22LR ammo. Pricing will go up to $25 a box for 50 rounds, for top of the line Federal Ultra Match. I pay between $5 and $10 a box. I shoot primarily .22LR, but my ....

Re: savage 93btvs
I've had my 93R17 BTVS for a couple of years now. The biggest thing that I can tell you is find the ammo it likes. It's taken me a while, and it seems that every rifle likes something different. I find the 17gr CCI TNT is the best in my rifle. At 50 yards, I put three rounds into the same hole, and ...

Re: Which dies - Lee, Hornady, or RCBS?
I guess because I'm new to all of this, I must be missing something really big. I spent the extra bit of money and bought the RCBS Competition die set, and I couldn't be happier. Dial in the seating depth, record the value in your reloading guide, move the cartridge into position and drop the bullet...

Re: Rookie eloading questions
I've just started reloading myself. I have a RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Kit, and I bought the RCBS Competition die set and the Precision Mic set. I'm noticing the my fired brass is approximately 0.002" shorter than the brass length, but I'm still reloading to COAL length. I'm still working up lo...

Re: Does the .204 shoot better "off the lands"?
Since I'm new to reloading, I'll ask a question. 'Off the lands?" I'm going to assume that this means that the bullet is seated in the chamber, and brass in such away that it does not engage the grooves of the barrel. This would be a chamber issue, correct? Wouldn't it also affect the accuracy ...

Re: Did I do that?
Roadkill, I have a better idea for you. Since you bought a nice new benchrest with a nice windage top, it sounds like you want to shoot paper...maybe. That's what I am going to be doing, as with all of my rifles. But, none of my rifles have a Benchrest stock on them. The bags I have, both Caldwell a...

Re: CCI Small Rifle Primers $19.99 on Cabela's Website
Remy, I'm new to this site, new to .204 (kind of) and VERY new to reloading, i.e., I haven't even set up my press yet. I'm still in the initial 'information gathering stage' for powder, primers, bullets, and cases. Let's talk about primers. :) I see Cabelas has the CCI 400 primers on sale for $20, w...

Re: New look for my .204!
I have a Savage Model 12 that I'll be getting back from a family member this week. Long story, it's a Model 12FV, and I don't like synthetic stocks, so I ordered a Ross Thumbhole Varmint stock from Boyd's for about $100. It looks like it's going to look a lot like that Remmie, only a nutmeg finish. ...

Re: Tell us about yourself...
Rick,
I've yet to find a gun forum where pictures aren't wanted. We kid newbies on RFC that our TOS requires pictures of all new guns, so when I get around to getting the Model 12 all dolled up and pretty I'll put some pictures of that up, along with target pictures as well.

Re: Tell us about yourself...
Thought I would introduce myself. My name is Gary, I live in Poulsbo, Washington. I am primarily a rimfire shooter, which is why I hang out on Rimfire Central so much, but I took a slightly used Savage 12 in Ruger .204 in trade as payment on a debt. My step dad has had the rifle for a while, and I'm...
