Re: New rifle
Loaded up some of the new Norma brass to fire form the cases. Used 25.5 grains of Benchmark, Rem 7 1/2 primers and the Midway Dogtown 34 grain bullets. Was certainly surprised, didn't expect much for accuracy since I didn't work up a load. Figured I would use a light load and cheap bullets since the...

Re: New rifle
Fox, I ordered the Lee collet die from Midway. Looked at the reviews for the Redding and decided on the Lee before reading your post.

Re: New rifle
Planning on getting back to the rifle range this weekend. Spent time with pistols last weekend, maybe a week off will make my eye better. :) I suspect that I am not getting consistent alignment between my eye and the scope. Shouldn't be much of an effect but when you are trying to achieve .5" g...

Re: New rifle
Have loaded and fired some of the Norma brass. Results were about the same as what I have been seeing previously but this is new brass. Unfortunately I have not been smart and have been full length sizing all of my brass every time. Will neck size this new brass and load up some more for testing for...

Re: New rifle
I usually blow the last one, the target above the first shot was the flier. And I didn't feel like walking downrange every shot. Lets see, 200 yds down, 200 yds back, 5 shots... I'm too old for this. Try to look through a spotting scope and keep notes as to hit location and chrono readings for each ...

Re: New rifle
jr I have no doubt that the problem is in the seat. Just can't figure out what it is. I usually blow the last shot in a good group. These are pretty well spread out. Gonna find some Nosler or Norma brass and give it another go. Got 500 sierra bullets, will give them a try too. Have you used 8208? Ha...

Re: New rifle
Yes, it helps. The reticle is clearly in focus, I have been using the side focus to adjust the target image without any attention to parallax.

Re: New rifle
Using the VX3 with the side focus. I am not sure how to tell if parallax is a problem.

Best group with Cooper 204. I used Benchmark, the test target that Cooper provided listed Benchmark as the powder used. This was the best group I shot out of about 10 five round groups with various powder loads. Every group I shot had a flier that murdered the numbers. Last weekend I spent breaking ...

Re: Biggest scope size
I have the Leupold VX3 8.5 x 25 with the varmint reticle on 2 PD rifles. Liked the first one so much I went and bought another for the next rifle. I also have an M77, it has a Bushnell 4200 8 x 24. Longest PD kill with the M77 was 492 yards. Not near as long a shot as others have made, but I was pre...

Able to take a photo and get it posted. Made it a group photo of my 204s. Not able to get to the range this weekend, tropical storm is going to sit right on top of us for a while. Gonna have to wait a week or two to run some rounds throug the Cooper. Kirk http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac106/kir...

Re: Addicted
Just got back from the range. Trying to get the 39 gr SBKs to shoot through my M77. No joy. They are shooting great in my AR, it has a 1/10 twist. Looks like the 12 twist is going to limit me to the 32 gr bullets for the Ruger. Had a ball anyway, son was helping me test the loads since we had 2 rifl...

Re: Addicted
Congrats on the Cooper. How did you score a Cooper in a week? Went to the local Cooper dealer, he didn't have one but called he Cooper to check on availability. They told him at least 4 months. Found one on the web and made the phone call. 10 minutes later I got a Model 21, 204 that should be here ...
