There is a lot of great information here that fuels my addiction. Always looking for a new load or a new rifle to improve t...

Re: PD preps
Learning to deal with the wind is right. 30 mph with gusts over 40 every day made it a real challenge. First day our closest kill was 270 yds with the longest at 492. I was really hoping for a 500 yard kill but couldn't make it happen. Today our nearest kill was 176 yds with the longest at 416. Thes...

PD preps
Getting packed up for a PD hunt in a week. Have loaded about 2500 rounds of 204. Also have 1000 rounds of 17 hmr packed up. Not overdoing it, figure it is like bait when fishing... Never want to run out of bait or ammo. Will be hunting in West Texas, praying that the wind will lay down while we are ...

Re: Ruger m77 MKII - thoughts, performance
Which one? Barrel length? What match ammo they recommend?
AR .204 Ruger Super Varmint Model 24 inch barrel.
I understand that Baer recommends the 32 gr factor Hornady ammo.

Re: Ruger m77 MKII - thoughts, performance
Thanks for the recommendation. Will try the 39 gr and see how it does. The performance of the 40 is pretty poor and the 45 was just awful. Couldn't even hit the backing at 200, much less the target. Got a Les Baer 204 on the way :D Can't wait to compare with the M77. Gonna be a long week waiting for...

Re: Ruger m77 MKII - thoughts, performance
Spent some time with my M77 this morning. 32 gr hornady was excellent. 40 gr was poor, and 45 gr -- couldn't even figure out where they were hitting. Was shooting from 200 yds, right to left wind about 15 mph. Was holding POA about an inch right. I am thrilled with the 32 gr v-max but it looks like ...
