Re: 22 Nosler
I built one with the 18" Stoner barrel when they were on sale at Midway for $105. It works out ok for me as the rifle is still manageable with a suppressor and spits 50 gr zmax out at 3420 fps. Most of the reviews on accuracy were abysmal but mine is sub moa to at least 200 yards, as far as I'v...

Re: New 17HMR Upper
Hey those are cool, I didn't know about them. I had ordered an AA 17hmr at one time, but they took way longer than their listed time frame and I cancelled as I was getting it specifically for a sage-rat shooting trip to oregon and it wasn't done in time. Let us know how it shoots!

Re: Bolt not closong all the way
Ok you didn't say what caliber or ammo you're using, but if you're using factory ammo, it's a gun problem that better oil, more break in Might cure. If you're using reloaded ammo you're problem is probably that the cases aren't resized fully. Take a fired case, resize it at the setting you're using ...

Re: fellow 204 ar reloaders?
I use regular fl dies from Redding for both of my 204 ARs, without any problem. If you have a tight chamber you may need to set the die far enough down that the press cams over at the top of the stroke. I started out with RCBS fl dies, and they worked ok too, but the runout they created was crazy ba...

Re: .204 AR Magazines?
Actually the pin inserts into one of the holes in the back of the ff tube like this pic shows, then the clip snaps onto the picatinny rail. I also have one with a center clip that works for uppers with separate rings, and it doesn't need the pin in front. They are made entirely of pvc, except the pi...

Re: .204 AR Magazines?
I got to agree with you about the mesh catchers, they aren't very good. That's why I came up with this:
Made of pvc, very light, a little bulky, but work very well.

Re: Olympic Arms
Olympic is one of the AR companies that have been around a long time. They used to be known for less reliability than the Colts, but perhaps more accurate. They supposedly make all their own parts, which most do not. The SUM (stainless ultra match) barrels they use are some of the best production ba...

Re: 204 Ruger Loads in the AR
I've never tried any bergers, but I shoot a 1-12" shilen tube in my ar, and it loves H335 behind 32 gr noslers. 5 shot groups in the high .3" low .4" range, depending on me mostly. 32 gr vmax's shoot almost as well. 40 grainers may not shoot in a 1-12", mine shoots them fairly we...

Re: Small base die
You shouldn't need it, mine has a pretty tight chamber (according to my gunsmith) and regular Redding fl size die works fine.

Re: Case necks nicked
Sounds like exactly what I'm describing. If the 3 o'clock lug on the barrel extension is scratching them, you would have scratches parallel to the case on the neck like you describe. Are these fairly new rifles, not a lot of rounds yet? And I know what I'd do to fix it, (very) lightly sand then poli...

Re: Case necks nicked
No mine is nicked on the neck about halfway to the shoulder/neck junction. The shoulders of my cases are fine. Ok, in that case check the top edge/corner of the locking lug on the barrel extension that's at the 3 o'clock position. I think what happens is that the neck scrapes there as the case is b...

Re: Case necks nicked
Guys, are these nicks on the junction of the shoulder/body of the case? If so it is from the bottom 2 lugs on the bolt, nicking the next case in the mag as the bolt goes back. Mine did it too. The cure is to very slightly bevel the corner of the 2 bottom lugs.

Re: problems reloading with once fired brass
I hate to be the dissenter, but try turning in your regular fl die down a little at a time and try that before buying a small base die. I load for half a dozen AR's, including a 204 and 2 223 AI's, and have never needed a small base die. If you screw the die down till the press cams over a little I ...

Re: 32 vs 39 Grain SBK's
Hi guys, new guy to the forum. I thought I was the only one with probs with the 32 SBKs. I thought they grouped ok, but not great at the range. When I took a few pdog shooting, I didn't hit anything and couldn't even see a dust poof of where they hit! I don't think they were making it, or were just ...
