Re: 6mm Rem+70gr BT+superformance results

Got a double on yotes this morning off a cow carcass. We had one prolapse a couple days ago and lost her. Anyway, I shot the first at 124yds through the lungs and the 70gr BT exited through the far shoulder. The second started slowing up at 275yds so I took time to set up my X-bag on the roof of the...

6mm Rem+70gr BT+superformance results

I just got to try the pound of superformance powder I bought in my 6mm Rem yesterday. Their factory data listed a max load of 54gr with a 70gr Sierra at 3812fps so I worked up to that charge with the ballistic tips I had. I shot 2 three shot groups with the max load that stayed under 3/4", 5 of...

Re: Kansas trip

You were only about 40 miles from me on that trip. It's good country for coyotes but I don't see many cats around or even to much sign. I've only sucessfully called in 2 that I got shot in my life. Sounds like you had a pretty good hunt, congratulations on the yotes. Flint Hills are pretty country, ...

Re: 6 mm 75 gr vmax

I have been trying to find some 87 gr V-max's for over a year now. My supplier from BC informed me that production should be starting some time early this spring. I am also anticipating some 87 gr berger VLD's to arrive along with the V-max's. I got to test the 87gr berger for them while they were ...

Re: what's your favorite 204 coyote bullet?

Thanks for all the reply's. I think I will start with the 40gr Berger and 39gr BK and go from there. They should work in my 1 in 10 twist, or at least be a good place to start. I have to deal with wind alot where I live.

Re: 6 mm 75 gr vmax

I haven't seen any down this way. I still have 2 boxes, and didn't realize they were that short of supply until I started looking for 87gr V-max's. I hate this bullet shortage, I have a 264 sitting in the safe that I'd like to be perfecting loads for but with I'm down to my last 30 140gr Bergers, an...

Re: Tell us about yourself...

I am a rancher in KS and work with my Dad and Grandpa. We run a 700 head commercial cow/calf operation with pretty much straight angus cows. I shoot some coyotes around the ranch and love hunting them. I ended up with 37 last year and am at 11 for this year. I don't yet have a 204, but have the barr...

Re: building a custom 204, help wanted

I got a barrel ordered, a Pac-Nor stainless #3 contour blank with 1 in 10 twist. I've never shot a 204 before, and after a little more research I decided to go with a 10 twist instead of 11 in case I want to go to a heavier bullet for predators. I figured I might get by with the 45 or 50gr bullets w...

Re: Superperformance powder

Monday my order of Superperformance powder is supposed to arrive. I can't wait to see what kind of velocity/accuracy I can get out of my .243 with a 75gr V-max. Unfortunately with the nasty weather I will have to wait till spring to do a lot of testing with it, but I do plan on trying out a few loa...

Re: Superperformance powder

Got a pound yesterday, but my chronograph doesn't want to work today so I don't have any results yet. There is a little load data for this powder on Hodgdon's website. I will try it in a 22" 243.

Re: building a custom 204, help wanted

I am more concerned with accuracy than velocity, but want to keep it as high as I can without losing accuracy. I just got the barrel broke in on my new 6mm with the Kreiger and I am getting 1/2 to 3/4" groups with my first experimental load. After handling the 24" barrel I think I will go ...

Re: building a custom 204, help wanted

If You go to Berger Bullets web site and clik on store, then the bullet you are interested in. Yhey will give you the recomended twist rate. They also have a free ballistics calculator that you can download. It enables you to enter in bullet grains Caliber and coefficant stated. The program will gi...

Re: building a custom 204, help wanted

I checked out the Bulberry comparison, I think I will go 22 or 23". I want to keep the rifle as short and handy as possible without giving up much velocity. 22" doesn't look to lose much in this chambering. I have 243 I'm re-barreling to 6mm Rem that is identical to this 204 plan except fo...
