Re: first chuck of the season
Bow Shot: You just reminded me of a time about 7-8 years ago when I was walking back from my treestand and shot a prairie dog with my bow. At this particular spot, I walk about a half mile to the tree, and along the way, there is a small p dog town. It was a morning hunt, and didn't see much for dee...

Re: Longest 204 chuck kill?
Thats kinda funny. My wife is always asking why I have to kill so much stuff. I just shrug my shoulders and say "It's just fun watching those little guys explode."bow shot wrote:

Re: Bore Snake
You guys gave the same answer that I do and that is what I figured would be the answer. I have one for every caliber that I have and only use it in the field. I guess the way I look at it as its like going to the car wash at the gas station or taking it in and having it detailed. The gas station get...

Congrats Ramos!! It is truly an AWESOME feeling when your kids enjoy doing the same things you do. I have a 5 year old boy myself and have been trying to take him out as much as possible. He truly enjoys it.

Re: Longest 204 chuck kill?
420 paces on a prairie dog (didn't have the rangefinder). So in actuality it was probable between 400 and 450. Don't know for sure. We actually weren't out to shoot p dogs as we were just going to do some plinking and scare the crap out of two of my wifes uncles. We had set up a couple exploding tar...

How hot is to hot
I got a few things I would like to do as far as load testing, but the first thing I have to do is re zero my scope. I put a new one on my 204 last night and would like to get it zeroed again before the next trip out to the dog town next weekend. The temps around here are in the 90's right now and I ...

Re: Zeroing in?
I sight in at 100 yards, but sight it in about 1.5" high. I only have a 100 yard sight in range that is why I do it that way. That pretty much makes it dead on at 200 and you are still pretty good out to 300 as Sidewinder said.

I am heading out to western NE for the 4th an heading to the prairie dog town. Last time I was at this particular town my cousin and I sent a little over 200 rounds downrange ...

Re: Finding loads
I would have to say, that it was one of my easiest to find an accurate load. Trent All the reasons you listed were the very reasons that kept me from buying a 204R several years ago. The other reason was I had a Win model 70 in 223 WSSM that I thought was going to be my go to gun. I for the life of ...

Olympic Arms
I was just curious of what your guy's opinion is on Olympic Arms AR's. I have a chance to pick one up from a fellow that I work with for what seems to be a real reasonable price. I dont know all the specs to this particular gun at this time, but would like more your opinion on the quality of the gun...

Re: 204 Maximum Effective Range
I can honestly say that my 204 was effective at 420 paces from the shooting bench I was sitting at. The prairie dog was DRT when we got out there and I wouldn't have believed I hit it but another guy had watched the hit in the spotting scope (thats why we walked out to it). I would have to say thoug...
