Re: New .204 AR build Fresh off the bench!

Sweet. It should be a tack driver with the Shilen barrel.

Re: Who makes a 204 AI barrel ....?

I just checked Bergers website and the 50gr 20 caliber bullets are back up, but out of stock. RIO, (or anyone else) any idea how far they would carry? I had my 204 at a 1000 yard range recently and at about 600 yards the 40gr bullets fell out of the sky. I'd really love it if I could get my girl to ...

It's my understanding that Berger discontinued the 55gr bullets in 20 caliber, so if that's why you want to AI a 204, your out of luck right from the get go.

Re: Help me decide: 24" Shilen 1:9 vs 20" mcgowen 1:11

I have a Shilen 1:9 on my Remington 700 and the barrel is superb. It will pump out sub half inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards all day long if I do my part. The best bullets I've found are 39gr BlitzKings and 40gr Bergers. The 32s are iffy. Sometimes with them I'd get half inch groups, sometimes they w...

Breaking up grains so there is more surface area and a faster burn maybe? You're right, something to ponder.

Re: 20 cal bullet pullers

I tried using the vise anvil. Five medium whacks and the bullet popped out as slick as you please.

Re: 20 cal bullet pullers

I finally went out in my back yard where there is a rock wall, and I could pull a bullet in about 10 smacks. I know this is not recommended with an inertia type puller, but my sanity is more important to me than a bullet puller! JME I was thinking about using the anvil part of my machinist vise but...

Re: 20 cal bullet pullers

Is there a trick to using the impact style pullers? I got a RCBS puller to disassemble some 204 rounds loaded for my old barrel. I put a round in and beat on a plank for at least 10 minutes, until the wood literally splintered and the bullet stayed put. I tried several different rounds with the same...

Re: Savage & hollow point non tipped problem

I have a similar problem with Berger 40gr hollow points in my Remington 700. Ballistic tip bullets chamber fine but the hollow point always get hung up and you have to rattle them around to get them to feed into the chamber. It annoying but its a target gun so it's not that big of a deal.

Re: Where 2 go from here?

with a 9 twist barrel you may have trouble with the light bullets no matter what powder you use. Overspinning a bullet can and will cause it to do strange things. Yeah I was afraid of that. The 9 twist would be perfect for 50 grain bullets but Berger stopped making them. I wish some one start makin...

Re: Where 2 go from here?

I haven't tried it with 32 grainers yet but Accurate 2230 has become my favorite powder for 40gr Bergers. The stuff is very fine, meters great and produces excellent accuracy. I gave up on shooting the 32s because the darn things kept keyholing out of my 9 twist barrel, but if Brad says they work we...
