Re: Nosler brass problem
Just a headspace problem. (brass too short for your chamber). Not a barrel headspace problem. :D Funny how sometimes it has to hit us between the eyes for us to take notice. :wall: If the primers are tight in their pockets and the brass hasn't been turned into junk, load them back up and set the OA...

Re: Nosler brass is GARBAGE!!
You are all right, my bad. I got a little complacent I guess, but I think I might have found the problem. I measured the case length on the ones with the blown out primers and every one was 1.818" or shorter. Everything longer than that was fine. I checked the SAAMI specs and the case length fo...

Nosler brass problem
I recently purchased 200 rounds of Nosler brass from Brownells and wish I didn't. The stuff is expensive garbage. I was shooting a standard load that I have used for years in Win, Hornady and Rem brass with zero problems. I was using CCI BR4 primers. Of the 15 rounds I shot with the Nosler brass, th...

Re: Anyone here built a 22-204R?
Interesting, but since a 204 is a 222 Mag necked down to 20 caliber isn't a 22-204R just another name for a 222 Mag?

Re: GOOD BRASS/BAD BRASS HELP
My biggest problem with it is that Hornady brass seems to work harden much faster than Rem or Win. Before I started annealing my brass I got a lot of split Hornady necks after only 3 reloads Tokimini, That is fast. How are you resizing? e I used to mostly neck size but since getting a new barrel la...

Re: 32 gr Sierra BKs in a 9 twist barrel
Anytime Bob. Let me know how the Varget works out. I've been thinking of trying that or BLC-2 next.

Re: 32 gr Sierra BKs in a 9 twist barrel
The best combinations for consistent sub half inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards are 39 grain Sierra BKs with 27.9 grains of CFE223 when the weather is warm and 40 grain Hornady Vmaxs with 24.6 grains of good old R10X when it's below freezing. I'm also getting sub half inch groups with the BKs and 40 g...

Re: TIGHTER GROUPS/LOST VOLOCITY ?
I have had excellent accuracy using 39gr BKs with either 27.9 or 27.7 grains of CFE223. This combination hates the cold however. Accuracy really drops off if the temp is below freezing.

Re: 32 gr Sierra BKs in a 9 twist barrel
I have since stopped using the 32s. Half the time I'd get half inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards, the other half one or more in the group would keyhole and be 6 or 8 inches off or miss the target completely. They would just not perform consistently with a fast twist barrel.

making your own bullets
I noticed on Berger's website that they sell bullet jackets. Has anyone here ever attempted to make their own bullets? That would be cool, shooting bug hole groups with bullets you made yourself.

Re: NEW BRASS PREP.
I just got some Norma brass from Brownell's and measured and inspected a sampling very thoroughly. Case length and case mouth ID were all exactly the same and every case mouth was chamfered. This brass is definitely of higher quality than Win, Rem or that junk that starts with "H". Like Ri...

Re: GOOD BRASS/BAD BRASS HELP
I got my Nosler cases in last night. They look great and all the measurements are very consistent but are all on the small side. Case lengths were all around 1.831, well short of the 1.84 trim length and the primer pockets were about .002" shallower than Hornadys. I sure hope they shoot well.

Re: GOOD BRASS/BAD BRASS HELP
Most of us are in the same boat Alp, stuck with Hornady. My biggest problem with it is that Hornady brass seems to work harden much faster than Rem or Win. Before I started annealing my brass I got a lot of split Hornady necks after only 3 reloads, now it seems I have solved that problem. Ramos is r...

Re: 204 Brass Question
I just ordered 100 rounds of Nosler brass from Brownells. At roughly 3 times the price of Win or Rem I hope it's worth it, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy any more Hornady brass. Even scrap dealers don't want it.
